Skirk

Overview

Skirk is a character from Genshin Impact, a solitary female warrior who resides in the depths of the Abyss and the fringes of Teyvat. As the pupil of Surtalogi "The Foul"—one of Khaenri'ah's Five Sinners—she underwent brutal training to master extraordinary martial skills. She also served as a strict master to Tartaglia ("Childe") when he fell into the Abyss as a youth, teaching him combat techniques and survival skills. Possessing immense power detached from standard human life, she operates outside the ordinary framework of the world.

Appearance

Skirk has very long white hair with strands hanging between her eyes, paired with striking red or pink eyes. She wears a bare-shouldered dress featuring detached sleeves, gloves, and a black hair ornament shaped like feathers or a butterfly. Small feather- or fin-like appendages are located on her back. Her arms and legs are crystalline prosthetic limbs formed from purple Abyssal energy. Her outfit, known as the Star-Crystal Garment, shifts color based on her Abyssal energy levels, displaying a white form in daily life, a black form during combat, and a mixed black-and-white state when drained.

Personality

Skirk is reticent, pragmatic, and highly emotionally detached, maintaining a calm demeanor that keeps others at a distance. Considering herself a mere passerby in Teyvat, she avoids forming deep bonds, believing that personal attachments will eventually turn into curses. Despite her cold exterior, her distant behavior stems from a desire to prevent her immense power from harming the fragile around her. She possesses a dedicated, stoic work ethic toward her martial art training, yet retains a gentle side, occasionally playing nostalgic tunes from her lost homeland on a guitar.

Abilities

In battle, Skirk wields a single-handed sword alongside a crystal blade, combining them into a dual-blade spear or splitting them into twin swords when entering her "Seven-Phases Flash" stance. Rather than wielding raw Abyssal power directly in Teyvat, she uses the Khaenri'ahn technique "Snake's Seven Transformations" to convert her power into a simulated Cryo element. She builds up an energy resource called "Serpent's Subtlety," which she expends to launch enhanced Cryo-infused normal attacks or deliver massive, wide-area slashes with her Elemental Burst, while empowering her strikes by absorbing spatial rifts created via Cryo elemental reactions.

Background

Born on a peaceful foreign planet, Skirk lost her home and parents when an invading alien force targeted her people's innate ability to adapt to harsh environments. Saved from near death by Surtalogi "The Foul," she underwent brutal training until she mastered martial combat and was sent to Teyvat. She settled near the world's borders, avoiding major interference with the continent. When a fourteen-year-old Ajax (Tartaglia) fell into the Abyss, she took him in and taught him Abyssal martial arts for three months. She later reappeared during the crisis in Fontaine's Primordial Sea to capture the All-Devouring Narwhal and clean up the aftermath.

Relationships

She was trained by her master, Surtalogi "The Foul," whom she ultimately hopes to surpass in order to establish her own sense of order. She served as a mentor to Tartaglia (Ajax), imparting her Abyssal martial techniques to him during his youth. Through repeated encounters and training sessions, she gradually opens up to the Traveler, allowing them a closer bond. She maintains a working acquaintance with Alice and relies on Dori for financial dealings in Teyvat, while actively avoiding Dainsleif due to his intense inquiries regarding her master's whereabouts.

Trivia

Her signature dish is "Dark Abyss Catch," a grilled fish caught from spatial rifts. Due to her unusual background, she has little passion for gourmet food, yet the dish tastes surprisingly delicious. She also utilizes a memory-erasing technique when visiting the surface world, ensuring that very few people retain any recollection of meeting her.
