Overview

Faruzan is a playable Anemo character and bow wielder in Genshin Impact, hailing from Sumeru. She is a scholar affiliated with the Haravatat Darshan at the Sumeru Akademiya, yet she is widely recognized as a foremost authority on ancient mechanisms and devices—a field traditionally belonging to the Kshahrewar Darshan. Over a century ago, she was trapped inside ancient ruins during a field expedition. Having recently escaped with her original appearance intact, she now acts as a mentor at the Akademiya.

Appearance

Faruzan features long aqua-colored hair styled in twintails with an X-shaped hair ornament and a small hair tuft on top. She has heterochromatic green eyes with triangle-shaped pupils—her left pupil leans toward indigo while the right is cyan-green. Her outfit includes a white dress with short sleeves and shoulder cutouts, complemented by arm bracelets, rings, a thigh ring, and upturned shoes. She also wears aqua and blue nail polish.

Personality

Having lived for over a century, Faruzan takes immense pride in her senior status, demanding that others treat her with traditional respect and address her as "Senior." She speaks using an archaic tone and self-identity, yet she becomes easily provoked into delivering stern scoldings if anyone expresses shock at her youthful appearance or questions her remaining in the Haravatat Darshan. Despite her prickly exterior, she is a compassionate mentor who generously assists students who approach her with genuine sincerity and humility.

Abilities

Faruzan serves as an Anemo support character utilizing a bow. Her normal attack reaches up to four consecutive shots, and her charged aim shot deals Anemo damage. Her Elemental Skill, "Nasuamjnan Manifest," deploys a polyhedron that deals Anemo damage and empowers a subsequent charged shot to fire a "Hurricane Arrow" that generates a vacuum effect to draw in enemies. Her Elemental Explosion, "The Wind's Secret Ways," unleashes a "Dazzling Polyhedron" that moves along a triangular path, firing pressure waves that boost allies' Anemo damage while reducing enemy Anemo resistance.

Background

During a research trip a hundred years ago, Faruzan became trapped in the ruins of King Deshret. Due to the strange mechanism within the ruins, her physical aging was halted during her century-long imprisonment. Unbeknownst to her, her family, friends, and mechanical companion "Tamimi" searched relentlessly for her over their lifetimes. After finally deciphering the ancient mechanisms to escape back to modern Sumeru, she returned to find her past erased by time, prompting her to resume her academic work as a Haravatat scholar while adapting to the modern era.

Relationships

Faruzan maintains friendly academic relations with fellow Sumeru figures such as Tighnari, Kaveh, and Cyno. She is particularly fond of Collei due to her polite demeanor, constantly trying to look after her and recruit her as a student. During the Akademiya Extravaganza, she formed a brief partnership with Kaveh in the competitive rounds. She also holds the Traveler in high regard as a capable assistant, relying on them during her search in the desert when she uncovered the fate of her past companion mechanism, Tamimi.

Trivia

Faruzan's favorite food is traditional flatbread (Date Naan) made using centuries-old techniques that are no longer common in modern Sumeru. Conversely, she dislikes contemporary Padisarah Pudding, as it has evolved into something entirely different from what she remembers. In addition to decoding ancient scripts, she possesses a keen eye for assessing authentic antiques and frequently exposes fraudulent traders selling fake artifacts.
