Overview
Clorinde is a playable Electro character in Genshin Impact hailing from the region of Fontaine. Renowned as the undefeated "strongest" Champion Duelist, she takes part in judicial duels where defendants fight to clear their names. Owing to her exceptional combat talents and steadfast loyalty, she often serves as a high-profile bodyguard, having notably protected the Hydro Archon Furina. Unbeknownst to the general public, she also carries on the legacy of the Phantom Hunters, an ancient organization dedicated to hunting monsters and safeguarding Fontaine from hidden threats.
Appearance
Clorinde is a well-endowed woman with purple eyes and very long dark blue hair tied into a low ponytail. Her attire consists of a black and blue-purple military-style outfit featuring a tricorne hat adorned with a feather, a white shirt, a black corset, a blue ascot, epaulettes, and white gloves. She wears a blue cape over a skirt, black pantyhose, short high-heeled boots, and gold-colored earrings. She holds an Electro Vision and carries both a single-handed sword and a handgun.
Personality
Clorinde maintains a calm, stoic, and highly professional demeanor at all times. Respected for her uncompromising integrity as a Champion Duelist, she shows no mercy to those who attempt to abuse the legal system. Beneath her icy exterior lies a deeply responsible and caring individual. In her private life, she enjoys hunting and dining on freshly caught meat prepared with salt and tart fruit, though she dislikes seafood due to its fishy odor and bones. She is also a passionate tabletop role-playing game enthusiast who frequently acts as an experienced Game Master for her friends.
Abilities
Wielding an Electro Vision with Ousia alignment, Clorinde is a rapid-striking combatant who combines swordplay with firearm marksmanship. Her Elemental Skill, Nightvigil, allows her to enter a state where her normal attacks turn into penetrating Electro pistol shots (Swift Hunt) that build a Bond of Life, while her skill converts into a lunging Electro sword strike (Impale the Night). Impale the Night clears the Bond of Life to heal her while dealing area-of-effect damage proportional to the bond cleared. Her Elemental Burst, Last Lightfall, delivers swift multi-stage Electro damage over a wide area and immediately grants a large Bond of Life.
Background
Rescued in her youth by the Phantom Hunter Petronilla, Clorinde was raised under rigorous combat training, hunting wild beasts and monsters from a young age. After her mentor vanished, she carried on her legacy and became Fontaine's top Champion Duelist. Three years prior, when Callas, the President of Spina di Rosula, chose death in a judicial duel to protect his daughter Navia from a conspiracy, Clorinde fulfilled her professional duty by slaying him, which left her carrying deep guilt. She later helped uncover the truth behind the serial disappearances, exonerating Callas and restoring her bond with Navia. She continues to safeguard Fontaine during its various crises.
Relationships
She shares a deep childhood friendship with Navia; despite a period of estrangement caused by Clorinde killing Navia's father Callas in a legal duel, the two eventually reconciled and rebuilt their bond. She holds the respect of Neuvillette and previously served as a personal bodyguard to Furina. She maintains a friendly, professional rapport with Wriothesley and Sigewinne. Additionally, the Fatui Harbinger Tartaglia (Childe) views her as a formidable opponent and frequently seeks to challenge her to combat.
Trivia
Her name Clorinde is likely derived from the warrior heroine of the Renaissance epic "Jerusalem Delivered," a moniker also shared by historical ships of the French Navy. Her visual design incorporates elements of historical European duelists, naval uniforms, and classic monster hunters. When playing tabletop RPGs, she notably avoids playing characters involved with the legal system.
