Jean

Overview

Jean Gunnhildr is a playable character in Genshin Impact who serves as the Acting Grand Master of the Knights of Favonius in Mondstadt. Holding the prestigious titles of Dandelion Knight and Lionfang Knight, she took charge of the order's affairs following the departure of Grand Master Varka on an expedition. Armed with a sword and an Anemo Vision, she works relentlessly to maintain peace and protect the citizens of Mondstadt. Trusted by the populace for her unwavering dedication and high moral standards, she stands as the very pillar of the Knights.

Appearance

Jean has blonde hair gathered into a high ponytail with a black ribbon, framed by M-shaped bangs and sidelocks, alongside sharp blue eyes. Her signature attire features a strapless white top paired with a blue capelet, detached sleeves, and gold cross earrings, complemented by white pants or tights, white high-heeled boots, and an Anemo Vision fastened at her waist. She also possesses a summer seaside outfit titled Sea Breeze Dandelion and a formal knightly dress inherited from her mother known as Gunnhildr's Legacy, which closes up her neckline while retaining sleeve and back accents.

Personality

Jean is defined by her solemn responsibility, intense self-discipline, and strong moral compass. A notorious workaholic, she routinely takes on small civic chores and pushes herself to extreme exhaustion, relying heavily on coffee to stave off fatigue during endless shifts. Despite earning widespread admiration, she remains intensely modest, constantly feeling that her efforts are insufficient. Beneath her rigorous command lies a compassionate and nurturing heart, acting as a dependable older-sister figure who shows genuine care toward the citizens and younger members of the Knights.

Abilities

Wielding a sword and the Anemo element, Jean excels as a versatile combatant and healer. Her Elemental Skill, Gale Blade, unleashes a miniature storm to strike and launch targets; holding the skill consumes stamina to pull nearby enemies toward her, allowing her to aim their release trajectory. Her Elemental Burst, Dandelion Breeze, creates a Dandelion Field that knocks surrounding enemies back while instantly healing all party members based on her Attack attribute. Within the field, allies receive continuous HP recovery and Anemo aura application, while foes moving across its border sustain Anemo damage.

Background

Born into the distinguished Gunnhildr Clan, Jean was trained rigorously from childhood by her mother, Frederica Gunnhildr, to uphold the ancient family motto of protecting Mondstadt. Following her parents' divorce, she remained with her mother while her father, Seamus Pegg, took her younger sister, Barbara. Through hard work, Jean rose through the ranks of the Knights of Favonius to become Acting Grand Master. She successfully guided Mondstadt through crises such as the assault of the Dragon of the East, Dvalin, and diplomatic pressure from the Fatui, continuously serving as the city's shield.

Relationships

Jean answers to Grand Master Varka, who left her in charge during his expedition. She maintains a close friendship with the librarian Lisa, who frequently urges her to take breaks. Her relationship with Diluc is rooted in mutual respect despite differing views on the Knights of Favonius. Barbara, a deaconess of the Church of Favonius, is her biological younger sister; though they deeply care for each other, past family separation creates a quiet awkwardness. Additionally, Jean acts as a strict guardian to the energetic spark knight Klee, often placing her in solitary confinement after explosive antics.

Trivia

Jean's signature dish is Invigorating Pizza, a variant of the Mushroom Pizza, which reflects her constant battle against sleepiness. Thanks to the physical suction mechanics of her Elemental Skill, which can pull and launch small enemies off cliffs or into deep water, she is humorously nicknamed the vacuum cleaner by the player community. Her lineage traces back to the founding era of Mondstadt alongside the heroic figure Vennessa, reinforcing the historic weight and duty carried by the Gunnhildr name.
