Columbina

Overview

Columbina is a prominent character in Genshin Impact who originally served as the Third of the Eleven Fatui Harbingers under the codename "The Damselette." Hailing from the region of Nod-Krai, she was historically worshipped as the Moon Goddess Kuutar by the Frostmoon Scions. She later broke away from the Fatui to embrace her distinct personal identity, choosing the name Columbina Hyposelenia. Although she appears detached and soft-spoken, her sheer combat capability equals that of the Archons, making her a vital figure in the world's balance.

Appearance

Columbina has floor-length black hair with reddish-purple inner tips, accessorized with six white wing-like hair ribbons. Her eyes remain closed, covered by an X-shaped white lace mask. She wears an off-the-shoulder white and indigo-blue dress featuring a crescent gem on the chest, a thigh strap on her left leg, and anklets around her feet. While she travels barefoot, she dynamically generates high heels made of Hydro element whenever she stands still.

Personality

Columbina exhibits a gentle, airheaded, and perpetually spaced-out demeanor. She moves at her own slow pace and often lacks practical everyday awareness or monetary sense. Unbothered by external conflicts, she remained completely unfazed during an argument among her fellow Harbingers, choosing instead to quietly hum a requiem while leaning on La Signora's coffin. Despite her unassuming and delicate impression, her true nature encompasses formidable strength rivaling divine beings.

Abilities

Wielding a Hydro Catalyst, Columbina moves with a low-gravity floating stride resembling lunar leaps. Her normal attacks release Hydro projectiles through melody, while her Elemental Skill "All-Time Tide" generates water ripples and accumulates gravitational points from Lunar reactions to trigger massive damage. Her Elemental Burst "Moonlight Nostalgia" opens her eyes to establish a domain enhancing Lunar reactions. She converts standard Electro, Bloom, and Crystallize reactions into specialized Lunar variants and scales party-wide reaction damage based on her maximum HP.

Background

Born five hundred years ago as the embodiment of the Frost Moon, Columbina was worshipped as the deity Kuutar by the Frostmoon Scions in Nod-Krai. Disillusioned with being viewed strictly as a figurehead, she fled after their demands grew unbearable. She was subsequently recruited into the Fatui as the Third Harbinger, though the Tsaritsa kept her inactive. Eventually abandoning the Fatui to hide in the Silver Moon Court, her existence faded due to severed lunar connections and heavy power depletion. Guided by the Traveler and members of the Hexenzirkel, she claimed the name Columbina Hyposelenia, restoring her physical form.

Relationships

The Tsaritsa served as Columbina's superior in the Fatui, keeping her contained rather than sending her to active battlefields. The Traveler played a crucial role in preventing her total erasure by seeking out her identity and calling her chosen name. Among her fellow Harbingers, she shared complex ties with La Signora, Sandrone, and Arlecchino, notably singing a lament upon La Signora's death. During her existential crisis, Alice and Nicole of the Hexenzirkel provided vital counsel and guidance to help save her.

Trivia

The surname Hyposelenia derives from the Greek prefix hypo- meaning "under" and the lunar goddess Selene, translating to "born beneath the moon." Unlike conventional characters, her Constellation represents the waxing phases of the moon rather than standard stars, and unlocking its levels alters the lunar pattern displayed on her back.
