Overview
Tholindis is a character from Genshin Impact. During the reign of the Eclipse Dynasty in ancient Khaenri'ah, she worked as a female researcher at the Royal Institute of Secrets. A descendant of the Crimson Moon Dynasty's collateral line, she is the lover and fiancée of Rerir, the Moon Hunter.
Appearance
She is a woman with short green hair, green eyes, and hair hanging between her eyes. She wears a hair ornament and a sleeveless dress that exposes her bare shoulders. Although she possesses the blood of the Crimson Moon Dynasty, her distant lineage leaves her without the signature pupil pattern characteristic of that royal line.
Personality
Tholindis is a gentle, brave, and deeply caring researcher. She possesses strong resolve and seeks to help others even at great personal risk. However, carrying secret burdens alongside her lover leaves her vulnerable to inner conflict and deep misunderstandings when crisis strikes.
Abilities
As a researcher at the Institute of Secrets, she conducted specialized studies and experiments regarding the history, technology, and spatial phenomena of the Crimson Moon, as well as the Moon Marrow of the Crimson and Rainbow Moons. She theorized that gathering the power of three moons could unlock mysterious passages.
Background
While hiding her lineage as a research staff member at the Institute of Secrets, she became engaged to Rerir, unaware at first of his role in purging Crimson Moon remnants. As tensions and Abyssal threats escalated, she quietly aided refugees while researching the mysterious Moon Gate. When the cataclysm struck Khaenri'ah, monsters swarmed her laboratory. Misinterpreting Rerir's desperate forced entry as his mission to execute her, she expressed her love and jumped into the Moon Gate in hopes of solving their conflict, vanishing from history.
Relationships
She was engaged to Rerir, whose love for her turned into permanent grief and obsession after her disappearance into the Moon Gate. She was informed of Rerir's secret duty by Uloc, another Crimson Moon descendant, and she secretly provided aid to a fleeing girl named Freyr.
Trivia
Her name appears to be a compound of 'tholin'—a term derived from the Ancient Greek word for hazy or turbid, used for complex organic compounds—and 'dís', a Old Norse term for female spirits or deities associated with fate.
