Overview

Paimon serves as the mascot and primary guide character in Genshin Impact. She is the companion who leads the Traveler across the world of Teyvat after being rescued at the beginning of their journey. Always floating alongside the protagonist, she acts as the central spokesperson during story interactions and represents the game on app icons and media visuals.

Appearance

Paimon has short white hair styled with hair between her eyes, black eyes featuring white pupils, and a dark hair ornament shaped like a star. A glowing halo floats above her head. She wears a white sleeveless romper-style dress trimmed in rose-gold with a triquetra emblem on the chest, paired with a small black cape featuring a glowing constellation pattern on the reverse side. Her footwear consists of a single white thigh-high sock on one leg and a pair of white boots. When moving around, she leaves behind a visible trail of starry constellations.

Personality

Childish and lively, Paimon is deeply motivated by food, money, and opening treasure chests. She quickly expresses frustration when annoyed, often giving people she dislikes silly or mean nicknames. Despite her petty greed and mischievous habits, she possesses sharp intuition, often acting as the voice of reason for the Traveler, and shows genuine warmth toward others.

Abilities

Paimon possesses the innate ability to continuously levitate without active physical effort, remaining airborne even while sleeping. She can seamlessly appear and vanish at will. While she does not carry weapons or engage in direct combat, her flight power and physical strength are sufficient to pull a drowning person straight out of the water.

Background

Paimon met the Traveler after being fished out of the ocean while on the verge of drowning. Deeply grateful for the rescue, she assumed the role of guide to help the protagonist navigate Teyvat. Her origins and true nature remain a mystery, even to herself, as she continues to travel at the protagonist's side.

Relationships

She shares an inseparable bond with the Traveler (Aether or Lumine), serving as their primary companion. After being jokingly referred to as 'Emergency Food' during their early encounter with Amber, the label stuck as a permanent running joke between them. She maintains dynamic interactions across Teyvat, frequently arguing with Venti over his casual banter and receiving unique nicknames from Arataki Itto.

Trivia

Her name originates from Paimon, the ninth demon listed in the Lesser Key of Solomon. The running joke of labeling her as 'Emergency Food' originated in an early dialogue choice and has since been regularly featured in official media and advertising. Her exaggerated reaction to flippant brush-offs became a famous Internet meme worldwide.
