Overview
Freminet is a character from Genshin Impact, hailing from the Nation of Hydro, Fontaine. Originating from the House of the Hearth, a Fatui-affiliated orphanage, he operates as a highly skilled professional diver known for his remarkable underwater focus and hydrology expertise. Unlike his famous magician foster siblings, Lyney and Lynette, Freminet shuns the public spotlight due to severe social anxiety, preferring the tranquil solitude of the sea. Though appearing cold at first glance, he possesses a gentle heart and remains deeply devoted to protecting his family.
Appearance
Freminet is a young man with golden hair covering his left eye, blue eyes, and visible freckles. He wears a black beret accented with gold ornaments and a dark blue sailor-style top featuring a prominent white collar and a blue-and-gold bow ribbon. His outfit includes short-length diving attire that exposes his thighs, dark mid-calf boots, and fingerless gloves. His Pneuma-aligned Cryo Vision is attached to his left thigh, and he carries a mechanical device on his back. In combat, he puts on a vintage diving helmet, and he is accompanied by his clockwork penguin, Pers.
Personality
Freminet is extremely introverted, self-deprecating, and socially anxious, easily overwhelmed by the attention or scrutiny of others. To escape everyday clamor, he seeks peace in the ocean depths, often confiding his feelings in sea plants or inanimate objects. He has an innocent side that loves fairy tales and tinkering with clockwork devices. Due to his tragic past and early days in the House of the Hearth, he once viewed himself as an emotionless mechanical doll merely executing orders. Through the warmth of his foster siblings, he gradually regains his emotions, though he remains ruthless toward anyone threatening his home.
Abilities
In combat, Freminet is a four-star Cryo Claymore wielder focusing on physical and Cryo damage. His Elemental Skill, Pressurized Floe, delivers an upward strike and activates the Pers Timer. Performing normal attacks builds Pressure Ranks from 0 to 4, culminating in High-Pressured Shatter, which deals powerful physical and Cryo damage depending on the accumulated level. The skill also unleashes a Pneuma-aligned Spiritbreath Thorn. His Elemental Burst, Shadowhunter's Ambush, triggers Submersed Mode, drastically lowering skill cooldowns and hastening pressure buildup. His exploration passive decreases underwater stamina consumption for the entire party.
Background
Born in Fontaine's subterranean Fleuve Cendre, Freminet was handed over to the House of the Hearth after his father abandoned the family with heavy debts and his mother sacrificed herself to protect him. Under the previous administration of the orphanage, he was used as a ruthless operative. When Arlecchino took leadership as the new Servant, she revealed his mother's sacrifice to him and formed a team with Lyney and Lynette under the Bouffes d'Ete. Deeply loyal to his new family, Freminet later assisted the Traveler in critical missions, including underwater investigations in the Fortress of Meropide, recovering prophecy slates, and comforting a grieving mother through the story of the clockwork mechanism Thelxie.
Relationships
Freminet shares a close bond with his elder foster siblings, Lyney and Lynette. The magician siblings constantly look out for him and try to help him feel more comfortable around others. He serves under Arlecchino, the current head of the House of the Hearth whom he addresses as "Father," holding deep respect and loyalty toward her for uncovering the truth about his mother. He is also attached to his companion Pers, a clockwork penguin he built himself, which serves as a comforting presence during his tasks.
Trivia
Freminet's constellation, Automata, reflects his affinity for machinery and his past emotional detachment. Although his Vision enables him to breathe underwater without gear, he continues to wear his vintage diving helmet as a mental switch to block out external distractions before starting a task. He has severe caffeine intolerance, experiencing heart palpitations from drinking even half a cup of coffee. His design and profession reference an 18th-century French inventor who created an early self-contained diving apparatus. In promotional artwork, he is frequently depicted wielding the claymore known as The Bell.
