Overview

Diluc Ragnvindr is a prominent character from Genshin Impact and the young master of the Dawn Winery in Mondstadt. Formerly the youngest Cavalry Captain of the Knights of Favonius, he stepped down following a tragic incident. Wielding a Claymore alongside a Pyro Vision, Diluc maintains the polished image of a wealthy nobleman by day, while secretly safeguarding the city at night from behind the scenes under the public title of the Darknight Hero.

Appearance

Diluc has fair skin, youthful features, large red eyes, and long, thick red hair tied back in a low ponytail with soft bangs framed around his forehead. His default attire, named Darknight Blaze, features a thick jacket styled in black, dark brown, and gold accents. Underneath, he wears a white quilted vest, long sleeves, dark gloves, and short boots ending just below the calves.

Personality

While Diluc presents a cold, taciturn, and sarcastic exterior due to past disillusionment, he remains a deeply caring, responsible, and principled individual. Despite being Teyvat's premier wine producer, he avoids alcohol in favor of grape juice. He takes no pride in his vigilante persona, finding the popular epithet Darknight Hero rather embarrassing.

Abilities

Combat-wise, Diluc executes four-stage slashes with Tempered Sword and possesses remarkable plunging attack power. His Elemental Skill, Searing Onslaught, deals a three-part Pyro slash sequence where normal attacks can be chained between hits, with its cooldown starting upon the initial activation. His Elemental Burst, Dawn, releases a massive flaming phoenix that knocks back foes while granting his normal attacks Pyro infusion and boosted elemental damage. Additionally, his utility passive Tradition of the Dawn Winery refunds a portion of ores when forging claymores.

Background

Born into the illustrious Ragnvindr family, Diluc obtained his Pyro Vision at age ten and became the youngest Cavalry Captain of the Knights of Favonius at fourteen. On his eighteenth birthday, his father Crepus died after resorting to a Delusion to repel a monster. Disgusted by the Knights' attempt to cover up the tragedy, Diluc resigned, discarded his Vision, and traveled Teyvat to investigate the Fatui and the mystery of Delusions before returning to protect Mondstadt independently.

Relationships

Diluc revered his late father Crepus, whose death reshaped his destiny. He shares a complex dynamic with his adoptive brother Kaeya Alberich; despite trading sharp barbs, they maintain an unspoken mutual understanding. He holds mutual respect with Jean Gunnhildr despite stepping away from the Knights, and he places immense trust in the Traveler, collaborating with them to neutralize threats against Mondstadt.

Trivia

Beyond swordsmanship, Diluc possesses diverse talents in archery, cooking, chess, and playing musical instruments. A notable anecdote mentions that after consuming potent Snezhnayan alcohol that left him unconscious for three full days, he promptly rejected all future trade involving the beverage.
