Overview
Pulcinella is a character in the open-world RPG Genshin Impact and its related works. He serves as a prominent mayor in Snezhnaya while simultaneously acting as the Fifth of the Eleven Fatui Harbingers, an executive group within the Fatui organization. His harbinger codename is "The Rooster."
Appearance
Pulcinella is an elderly, short man distinguished by a prominent beak-like nose and pointed elf-like ears. He has white hair, a white mustache, and wears round glasses. His attire includes a top hat decorated with feathers, a coat trimmed with fur and a feathered collar, uniform outerwear, wide trousers, and distinctive shoes. He is also depicted carrying a walking stick.
Personality
Pulcinella is a pragmatic and calculating politician. While he refrains from unnecessary conflict or aimless sacrifice, he exhibits a ruthless side when organizational goals are at stake, fully capable of discarding even his own subordinate units as low-value assets. Behind his composed and orderly elderly gentleman persona lies a highly strategic mind.
Abilities
Pulcinella possesses significant political authority and leadership capabilities, managing civic administration in Snezhnaya. He commands direct military units, such as the Ninth Company, and has the administrative power to execute large-scale strategic operations involving heavy recruitment and resource allocation. He also possesses an eye for identifying combat talent.
Background
Rising to prominence as a mayor in Snezhnaya, Pulcinella integrated himself into the Fatui's leadership. Recognizing the wild combat potential of young Ajax, he recruited him into the ranks, paving the way for him to become the Harbinger known as Childe. As a high-ranking executive, he orchestrates strategic movements across Teyvat, including leaving his own Ninth Company stranded in The Chasm when their preservation no longer served the organization's greater ends.
Relationships
Pulcinella serves under the Tsaritsa as his supreme ruler. He maintains a close relationship with Tartaglia (Childe), taking care of Childe's family during his absences—though fellow Harbingers like Scaramouche and Arlecchino view this care as political leverage to keep Childe under control. He has a bitter rivalry with Pantalone over financial and state matters, a conflict so notorious that Columbina openly mocks Pulcinella's frequent complaints about him.
Trivia
His name "Pulcinella" is derived from the stock character of the same name in the Italian Commedia dell'arte, traditional for portraying a calculating, hook-nosed old man. He was notably showcased via silhouette as the representative figure for the Snezhnaya chapter in the Teyvat Chapter Storyline Preview video.
