Overview

Dehya is a prominent character in Genshin Impact, hailing from the desert region of Sumeru. Known as the "Flame-Mane," she is a skilled warrior belonging to the "Blazing Beasts," a faction within the mercenary conglomerate known as The Eremites. Renowned for her tactical intellect and fierce independence, she accepts contracts based on sound reason rather than pure wealth, wielding her blade strictly according to her personal sense of honor.

Appearance

Dehya is a dark-skinned woman with long black hair featuring blonde streaks, crossed bangs resting between her eyes, and hair styled into cat-ear shapes alongside matching hair accessories. She has blue eyes with slit pupils. Her outfit consists of a red and black bandeau paired with black short shorts, a black belt, and black high-heeled knee boots accented with gold trim. She exposes her shoulders and midriff, wearing a single earring, an armlet, an usekh collar, and black elbow-length gloves, one of which is fingerless.

Personality

Dehya possesses a mature, practical disposition, balancing formidable strength with humility and strategic composure. Operating in the harsh desert has endowed her with sharp intuition, allowing her to easily thwart deception and manipulation. Though a mercenary for hire, she strictly safeguards her autonomy and moral boundaries, routinely donating her earnings to support desert orphans. Beneath her tough, protective exterior lies a warm persona who values friendship deeply and enjoys everyday pastimes such as shopping for cosmetics with her friends.

Abilities

Dehya wields a claymore and possesses a Pyro Vision. Her Normal Attack, "Gold Duster," combines four strikes using her blade and martial arts, while her Heavy Attack unleashes a series of punches. Her Elemental Skill, "Molten Melt," creates a "Fiery Sanctum" field that triggers coordinated Pyro attacks when enemies take damage, enhances party interruption resistance, and redirects a portion of incoming ally damage to Dehya via "Redmane's Blood." Her Elemental Burst, "Leonine Bite," temporarily sets aside her sword to enter the "Blazing Lioness" state, delivering rapid punches and a final kick. She also has passive talents that restore her HP when low and increase daytime movement speed.

Background

Abandoned as an infant in the desert, Dehya was taken in by Kusaila, leader of the "Mane of Ahmar" under the "Deshret's Relics" faction, who raised her with fatherly care while shielding her from criminal activities. Upon discovering the group's illicit nature in adulthood, she left and joined the "Blazing Beasts," eventually taking a job guarding Dunyarzad of the Homahai family. During Sumeru's crisis, she teamed up with the Traveler, Alhaitham, and Cyno, demonstrating immense bravery by offering her own arm during negotiations with Rahman. She played a key role in rescuing Lesser Lord Kusanali and overthrowing the Grand Sage. Afterward, learning of Kusaila's sacrifices, she resolved to pursue her own heroic path while seeking her biological roots.

Relationships

Dehya shares a deep bond of friendship with Dunyarzad, evolving far beyond their initial dynamic as employer and bodyguard. She maintains a close, trusting friendship with Candace of Aru Village, often accompanying her on shopping trips. Her adoptive father, Kusaila, remains her guiding light and benefactor who shielded her from crime. Through the events surrounding Sumeru's restoration, she forged strong ties of mutual reliance with the Traveler and Paimon, while gaining the respect of Eremite leader Rahman through her resolute willingness to self-sacrifice.

Trivia

Her name is believed to originate from the Berber queen Dihya, also known as Al-Kahina. Her constellation, Manticore, references the mythical beast. Following a scene depicting her donating earnings to support desert children, fans launched a massive real-world charitable donation campaign for children's welfare organizations upon her release. Additionally, she was added to the standard wish banner as a permanent 5-star character starting in Version 3.6.
