Overview
Anchorage Oni is a boss character from the enemy faction known as Abyssal Ships in the game and media franchise Kantai Collection, categorized as an Abyssal Aviation Battleship. Classified among the formidable "Oni" class enemies, she served as an early landmark boss during the title's inaugural limited-time event.
Appearance
Anchorage Oni has pale skin, red eyes, and untied, long silver hair. Antennae resembling wings are attached to her forehead. She is dressed in a black dress extending up to her neck with an attached overskirt at her waist, paired with matching black elbow gloves. She is seated upon a massive maw-like base encircled by tooth-like protrusions around her thighs, supported by a pair of gigantic, muscular human arms extending from the lower jaw. A large cannon is positioned behind her.
Personality
Exuding an eerie and ominous presence, Anchorage Oni displays little emotion. She meets intruders with a chilling, detached demeanor, uttering sparse, sinister warnings before mercilessly engaging in combat.
Abilities
Despite being classed as an Aviation Battleship in the browser original, she carries an unusual armament setup lacking main guns while utilizing specialized munitions. In the arcade adaptation, her body scales up to the size of a moving fortress, unleashing powerful shelling capable of crippling battleships in a single hit, wide-reaching homing airstrikes, and multi-directional torpedo salvoes.
Background
Anchorage Oni debuted during the May 2013 event "Rush into the Enemy Anchorage!". Notably, she was the very first Abyssal Ship to speak human language with voice acting in combat. Defeating her on the event map allowed players to acquire the fleet carrier Shoukaku, sparking long-running connections between the two figures. She has also appeared as a formidable enemy within official spin-off manga adaptations.
Relationships
She shares a strong thematic link with the standard aircraft carrier Shoukaku, highlighted by sharing the same voice actress and her acquisition upon defeating Anchorage Oni's map. She is also closely related to Anchorage Princess, who serves as a higher-tier entity.
Trivia
Based on the geography of her debut event map, fans often associate her design and encounter with the Pearl Harbor naval base on Oahu and the sunken American battleship Arizona.
