Overview

Conte di Cavour is a shipgirl from Kantai Collection based on the lead ship of the Italian Regia Marina's dreadnought battleship class of the same name. Introduced as an event completion reward, she is one of the fleet's oldest dreadnoughts based on her launch date. Despite her petite, childlike stature, she possesses remarkably large breasts that create a striking visual contrast. Carrying high self-confidence and pride as a seasoned veteran, she maintains a bold attitude toward the Admiral and her peers on the battlefield.

Appearance

She features brown eyes and long silver-grey hair styled in a two side up look. Although petite and youthful in stature for a battleship, she possesses noticeably large breasts. Her standard costume consists of a white and grey long-sleeved frilled dress with deep cutouts at the chest and armpits, paired with black boots. Her initial rigging surrounds her with three triple-barrel and two twin-barrel 305mm turrets along with smokestacks. Upon upgrading to her Kai form, her dress becomes sleeveless with an enlarged chest cutout, the third turret is removed, her main guns change to 320mm, and her underwater bulkhead structure becomes visible. Her nuovo form adds a catapult and camouflage. She also has seasonal outfits, including a goldfish-patterned yukata and a shrine maiden outfit with a hamaya arrow.

Personality

Speaking with the archaic first-person pronoun "washi" while addressing others as "anta," she carries herself with high confidence as a battle-hardened veteran. She despises being treated as obsolete and often overexerts herself to prove her youthful energy, sometimes resulting in physical strain. Beneath her proud front lies an emotionally expressive and competitive personality; when sleepy, off-guard, or heavily damaged, she inadvertently slips into a cat-like "nya" speech habit. She eagerly embraces local Japanese festivals, enthusiastically sampling stall foods like cotton candy and grilled squid, and takes playful initiative in creating unconventional dishes such as basil-infused rice balls.

Abilities

In her un-remodeled form, she functions as a low-speed battleship capable of equipping torpedoes for torpedo warfare and select anti-ground equipment, though she cannot equip armor-piercing shells or large radars. She gains fit bonuses when equipping her standard 305mm main guns. Her level 48 Kai upgrade converts her into a high-speed battleship; while this removes her torpedo capabilities, it grants higher firepower and unlocks armor-piercing shells, Type 3 shells, and large radars. Her level 74 nuovo upgrade restores torpedo capability, allows her to equip seaplane bombers, seaplane fighters, and active sonars, and expands her third and fourth slot aircraft capacities. Although highly resource-efficient for a fast battleship remodel, her durability stat of 78 makes her relatively fragile.

Background

Her design is based on the Italian dreadnought battleship Conte di Cavour, launched on August 10, 1911. At her debut, she was the oldest battleship in the fleet based on launch date. She was introduced as a completion reward during the Summer 2021 Event "Reinforcement Transport Operation! Battle of the Mediterranean." Her real-world extensive modernization carried out between 1933 and 1937 is represented in-game through her Kai upgrade, which transforms her into a high-speed battleship with modernized artillery and defense systems.

Relationships

She maintains friendly ties with fellow Italian shipgirls Luigi di Savoia Duca degli Abruzzi and Giuseppe Garibaldi, frequently offering them her experimental culinary creations. She feels a comfortable sense of camaraderie with fellow dreadnought Gangut, while viewing the fast battleship Kongou as a rival. She expresses clear awe toward Yamato's grand appearance, yet displays rare vulnerability when reflecting on the tragic historical fate of her junior, Roma. Toward the Admiral, she acts consistently assertive, though she shows a sweeter side by asking for their opinion whenever she puts on seasonal outfits.

Trivia

The ship's name originates from Count Cavour, a key political figure in Italian unification alongside Giuseppe Garibaldi and Giuseppe Mazzini. The suffix for her second major remodel, "nuovo," is the Italian word for "new." Official scale comparison art contrasting her physical size with other Italian vessels has been published by her character illustrator, Jiji.
