Overview

Nowaki is a shipgirl from Kantai Collection representing the fifteenth vessel of the Kagerou-class destroyers. Positioned as a core member of the 4th Destroyer Division, she is depicted as a serious and composed character. Introduced initially as an event reward, she was later made available in regular map drops.

Appearance

Nowaki features short, asymmetrical grey hair flipped outward on the right side with swept bangs, and grey eyes. She wears an unbuttoned black vest over a white shirt—revealing a red inner lining when damaged—paired with a yellow necktie, black pleated skirt, brown pantyhose, and brown loafers. A seasonal Halloween costume adds animal ears, paw gloves, and a tail.

Personality

Nowaki presents a neat, serious, and stoic demeanor often compared to a dashing young lady. Despite her strict nature, she shows a softer, age-appropriate side when eating sweet treats or spending time with close companions. She expresses mild annoyance at being called by her nickname, yet demonstrates deep loyalty and strong trust toward her squadmates. She is also a skilled cook.

Abilities

Nowaki possesses baseline stats typical of the Kagerou class, with slightly higher growth potential in anti-submarine warfare. Upon remodeling, she comes equipped with items such as the 12.7cm Twin High-angle Gun Mount (Late Model) and Type 93 Passive Sonar, enabling effective anti-submarine setups when paired with depth charges.

Background

Formed into the 4th Destroyer Division alongside her sister ships, Nowaki engaged in numerous intense naval operations throughout her service history, including the Southern Operations and the Battle of Midway. After surviving severe engagements and witnessing the losses of her comrades across key battles in the Pacific, her service concluded during the intense combat around Samar in the Battle of Leyte Gulf.

Relationships

She shares an exceptionally close bond with her division partner, Maikaze, relying deeply on her during missions. Nowaki treats the light cruiser Naka with great respect, addressing her politely, and maintains friendly interactions with Chikuma, Tone, and Katori. Her teammates and the Admiral affectionately address her by her nickname.

Trivia

Her name originates from an ancient Japanese term for autumn typhoons or strong seasonal winds. Contrary to the tempestuous nature suggested by her name, she is portrayed as remarkably calm and composed. Her voice lines highlight her diligent daily routine, including preparing elaborate meals for others.
