Overview

Anchorage Princess is a character from the media franchise Kantai Collection, appearing as a boss commander within the hostile Abyssal Ship faction. She debuted in the May 2013 event "Diverge the Enemy Anchorage!" as the very first enemy unit categorized under the Princess class. Designated as an Aviation Battleship, she played a prominent role in the game's early operations and has also made appearances in derivative media, including the premiere episode of the animated series and the arcade adaptation.

Appearance

Anchorage Princess is a humanoid Abyssal featuring pale skin, long flowing white hair, red eyes, and a pair of wing-like antennae on her forehead. Her outfit consists of a black strapless dress with a navel cutout, paired with a waist belt holding a showgirl-style skirt, elbow-length gloves, and tall boots. Fortress-like spheres adorn her belt, while a massive cannon looms behind her alongside floating accompanying fortresses. Unlike Anchorage Oni, her design leaves her legs fully visible rather than enclosed in a massive lower-body mechanical unit.

Personality

Anchorage Princess exhibits intense hostility toward the player's fleet, openly expressing her disdain during battle. Uniquely among most Abyssal entities, she directly refers to her opponents using the term "kanmusu" (shipgirls). While maintaining an aggressive and commanding demeanor in combat, her outer defiance fades upon defeat, giving way to a tragic longing as she wonders whether she can ever return to the surface of the blue ocean.

Abilities

Classified as an Aviation Battleship, Anchorage Princess lacks standard main naval guns and instead relies on aircraft equipment—such as the Abyssal Fighter Mark.II and Abyssal Dive Bomber Mark.II—alongside specialized armor-piercing munitions. Her primary strength lies in her massive health pool, functioning as a resilient tank. In the arcade edition, transitioning from Anchorage Oni completely restores her durability and redeploys any previously destroyed floating fortress turrets.

Background

First appearing as the final boss of the Spring 2013 event "Diverge the Enemy Anchorage!", Anchorage Princess guarded the last sea area where players fought for rare completion rewards. She later reappeared in the night-combat maps of the Autumn 2013 event. In the first episode of the television anime adaptation, she served as the boss encounter in the waters directly facing the naval district. Her appearance in KanColle Arcade featured a dynamic phase shift where she emerges directly from a damaged Anchorage Oni.

Relationships

Anchorage Princess is closely linked to Anchorage Oni, sharing a fundamental design and acting as her transformed or unarmored counterpart. Her visual and operational traits led to thematic comparisons with aircraft carriers such as Shoukaku, as well as historic capital ships and naval bases from early war operations. She maintains a direct rivalry with all shipgirls, addressing them explicitly with hostility.

Trivia

Anchorage Princess holds the distinction of being the first Abyssal ship to explicitly utter the word "kanmusu" in her voice lines. Despite her status as a final event boss, her early game equipment setup featured no primary artillery guns, leading to a uniquely low physical shell firepower compared to later Princess-class bosses. The rare Shinden Kai aircraft awarded to players who defeated her during her debut event remains one of the most famous exclusive items in the game's history.
