Overview

Light Cruiser Princess is a boss-tier enemy character from the browser game Kantai Collection and its derivative works. Classified as a light cruiser, she first appeared in November 2015 during the autumn event "Charge! Maritime Transport Operation" as the boss of the E-2 map. Her design and event staging heavily reference the historical light cruiser Jintsuu, particularly her final stand at the Battle of Kolombangara. Within the player community, she is often referred to by fan nicknames such as "Deep Jintsuu" and "Jintsuu Alter."

Appearance

She features pale skin and long black hair parted in the middle. Her attire consists of a dark, sleeveless sailor uniform similar to the Sendai-class Kai Ni design, paired with long elbow gloves and boots. The upper half of her face is concealed by a mask bearing two curved horns and rivet-like studs. Her right hand is fitted with a glove-style rigging mounting two 6-inch single cannon turrets. Her left arm integrates a ship-hull rigging styled like a toothy maw, equipped with torpedo tubes, four 6-inch single cannons, and a distinctive Abyssal searchlight.

Personality

Although she initially displays manic laughter upon entering battle, her demeanour turns deeply tragic once engagement begins. Rather than expressing malice toward her opponents, her voice lines are filled with sorrow, fear, and profound regret over past events. She displays a self-sacrificing streak in combat, willingly illuminating her own vessel with her searchlight during night battles to draw enemy fire away from her fleet.

Abilities

She possesses exceptionally high durability and armor ratings, making her extremely resilient to damage. Armed with 6-inch single cannons classified as secondary guns alongside torpedoes, she utilizes double attacks during night battles rather than cut-in strikes. She is notable for being the first Abyssal vessel equipped with a searchlight, which reduces the enemy's night-battle cut-in chances while drawing attacks to herself. Her upgraded variant, Light Cruiser Princess II, carries Abyssal Midget Torpedoes to execute pre-emptive torpedo strikes.

Background

She debuted as the boss of the E-2 map in the Autumn 2015 event. Because the operation focused on transport logistics, clearing the map did not strictly require her total destruction. She reappeared as a transport boss in the Winter 2018 event's E-5 map. In the Rainy Season & Early Summer 2020 event, she returned as the reinforced Light Cruiser Princess II in a standard combat gauge node, allowing players to hear her defeat voice lines for the first time upon sinking her.

Relationships

She shares a direct thematic connection to the shipgirl Jintsuu, reflecting her physical traits, equipment, and historical place of sinking. She is also positioned as a higher-tier counterpart to Light Cruiser Demon. In the Winter 2018 event, she filled a boss role in an operation region historically associated with the light cruiser Kinu.

Trivia

Her masked design and dark color scheme led to popular fan nicknames referencing alternate-alignment characters from other franchises. For nearly five years following her debut, she remained one of the rare event bosses whose defeat quote could not be triggered due to map mechanics, until the introduction of her "II" form finally revealed her sinking dialogue.
