Uzuki
Uzuki is a character from Kantai Collection representing the fourth ship of the Imperial Japanese Navy's Mutsuki-class destroyers. Introduced alongside her sister ship Yayoi, she is known for her extraordinarily high-energy persona and rabbit-themed speech habits. Although her real-world namesake survived many fierce campaigns—leading to the temporary reclassification of her class under her own name—in the naval base she acts as a playful, chaotic moodmaker.
Overview
Uzuki is a character from Kantai Collection representing the fourth ship of the Imperial Japanese Navy's Mutsuki-class destroyers. Introduced alongside her sister ship Yayoi, she is known for her extraordinarily high-energy persona and rabbit-themed speech habits. Although her real-world namesake survived many fierce campaigns—leading to the temporary reclassification of her class under her own name—in the naval base she acts as a playful, chaotic moodmaker.
Appearance
She has wavy scarlet hair and red eyes, adorned with a hair ribbon, a crescent clip on the right side, rabbit-shaped accessories, and an ahoge. She wears a dark blue sailor outfit matching Yayoi's design. Her rigging includes a back-mounted funnel decorated with cherry blossoms, a single gun mounted on her arm, and torpedo tubes strapped to her thighs. In her modernized damaged artwork, a sarashi chest wrap and striped underwear are visible, while her standard collar gains a hairpin ornament resembling Kako's. Her autumn saury outfit consists of a shirt emblazoned with the word 'saury', a happi coat, and double searchlights mounted on her thighs.
Personality
Uzuki is an extraordinarily energetic and mischievous girl who frequently acts like a playful rabbit, referring to herself in the third person and adding whimsical verbal tics to her speech. She often causes chaotic situations around the base and teases her quieter companion Yayoi. While easily bored and prone to demanding attention from the Admiral like a young child, she ultimately possesses a caring heart that shows concern for others in dire moments.
Abilities
In combat, Uzuki features the typical low fuel consumption of her class, but suffers from exceptionally low offensive firepower. To reflect her historical lifespan and anti-aircraft modernizations, her post-remodel form grants higher anti-air stats compared to most sister ships, equipping 25mm AA autocannons and a No. 13 air-radar. Historically, her stern was also modified into a slope to deploy small landing craft.
Background
Serving extensively in the 30th and 23rd Destroyer Divisions, she survived the early losses of her sister ships, causing the surviving vessels of the class to be temporarily reclassified as the Uzuki class. She continued escort duties through late-war operations, fighting alongside her youngest sister ship Yuuzuki until the final stage of the war. In the game, she was initially a rare boss drop in mid-to-late sea areas, though later updates broadened her availability.
Relationships
She shares a close bond with her sister ship Yayoi, serving as a energetic counterpart to Yayoi's serious demeanor. Her visual design incorporates an accessory honoring the heavy cruiser Kako, whose crew she rescued historically. She is also given affection and specific nicknames by destroyers such as Matsukaze and Ariake.
Trivia
Special seasonal room furniture themed around her was released in April, featuring interactive tricks such as shaking hanging scrolls and unique audio lines when clicked.
