Overview
Nevada is a shipgirl from Kantai Collection based on the lead ship of the United States Navy's Nevada-class super-dreadnought battleships. As the pioneering unit of the American Standard-type battleships, she takes great pride in her design and capabilities. Characterized by her frank, big-sisterly attitude and long red hair, Nevada brings a dependable presence to the fleet. She was introduced during the Summer 2023 Event as a clear reward and features multiple unique refit stages from her initial debut.
Appearance
Nevada features long reddish-brown hair and red eyes, wearing her hair in a braid during her base and Kai forms. In her Kai Mod. 2 form, her hair is worn down with a headband, and her eyes become red and blue multicolored. Her base outfit consists of a sleeveless white shirt, a light grey jacket with a white fringe sailor collar, a reddish tie, a left thigh strap, white gloves, and grey boots, switching to white bloomers when damaged. Kai introduces a navy blue jacket with red lining and red thigh-high socks, while Kai Mod. 2 equips a red necktie, blue boots, and black underwear when damaged. Her rigging features main gun turrets, a high mast, and a living mascot goat wearing a life ring on its right side.
Personality
Despite her somewhat melancholic visual expression, Nevada has a straightforward, reliable, and big-sisterly demeanor. She takes strong pride in her performance as a standard-type battleship. Nevada enjoys hearty meals—notably eating steak for lunch—and prepares full daily menus for the Admiral, finishing evenings by mixing her signature namesake cocktail. However, she thoroughly dislikes administrative paperwork, often attempting to delegate it to other shipgirls like Helena or accidentally falling asleep while attempting to complete it.
Abilities
As an older battleship, Nevada excels in resource consumption, maintaining lower fuel usage comparable to Kongo-class Kai or Conte di Cavour nuovo in her base form. In her Kai Mod. 2 form, her stats are slightly lower than the Colorado-class, but she boasts higher evasion and superior fuel efficiency. Aircraft slot capacity is limited to zero in early slots for base and Kai forms, but expanded across all slots in Kai Mod. 2. She carries 14-inch/45 twin and triple gun mounts providing equipment bonuses to US and British battleships, and wields a catapult gun in her right hand from Kai onward.
Background
Historically launched as the pioneer of the US Navy's standard-type super-dreadnought battleships, Nevada was introduced to Kantai Collection during the Summer 2023 Event "Fleet Escort! Transport Sea Route Defense Line". Having historically survived numerous major operations—including gunfire support during the Normandy landings and later participating in the Operation Crossroads atomic bomb tests at Bikini Atoll—she reflects this background through her interactions with other veteran shipgirls.
Relationships
Nevada shares a close relationship with the Admiral, regularly preparing meals and mixing cocktails, though she actively avoids doing paperwork for him. Due to their shared history in Operation Crossroads, she frequently talks with Nagato and Sakawa, regarding Sakawa as notably small despite their minor length difference. She maintains mutual respect with Colorado when discussing standard battleship line tactics and expresses genuine amazement at the sheer size of Yamato.
Trivia
Nevada treats the existence of Area 51 in her namesake state as common knowledge due to her familiarity with its history as an Army Air Force gunnery range. Her mascot goat is based on a real-life ship mascot that wore a detachable life ring, which was later given an interactive walking animation when using the "Mysterious Xmas Carpet" furniture.
