Overview

Hatsuyuki is a shipgirl from Kantai Collection, based on the third vessel of the Fubuki-class destroyers. She is defined by her extreme introversion and lethargic demeanor, preferring to avoid effort whenever possible. Despite her passive attitude, she faithfully performs her duties, earning her a fond following among players.

Appearance

She has long black hair styled in a hime cut with straight blunt bangs, brown eyes, and a perpetually sleepy facial expression. Her outfit consists of the standard Special-Type serafuku featuring a white shirt, blue sailor collar, blue neckerchief, blue pleated skirt, and grey rudder footwear. Her naval rigging includes a back-mounted funnel, a 12.7 cm twin gun mount, and 61 cm triple torpedo tubes fastened around her thighs.

Personality

Extremely passive and lethargic, Hatsuyuki loves remaining indoors with comfort items like a futon, snacks, and video games. She speaks in short, interrupted sentences and often postpones taking things seriously until the next day. Though she comes across as reluctant, she is surprisingly obedient and thoughtful, showing deep affection and embarrassment once a strong bond is established.

Abilities

As a Fubuki-class destroyer, she operates standard naval armaments including a 12.7 cm twin gun mount and 61 cm triple torpedo tubes for surface combat. Additionally, she demonstrates an unusual knack for spotting hidden gaps or openings in others' attire.

Background

Modeled after the historical warship that survived severe structural damage and active escort missions, Hatsuyuki serves in the fleet as a dedicated destroyer. Over time, she receives her secondary upgrade to Kai Ni along with her fellow 11th Destroyer Division members.

Relationships

She shares close ties with her sister ships Fubuki, Shirayuki, Miyuki, and Murakumo. She lives in the same room as Miyuki and frequently lounges around with Mochizuki due to their shared lazy habits. While she teases Murakumo, a underlying trust exists between them, whereas she shows clear apprehension toward Katori.

Trivia

The name Hatsuyuki was later inherited by the lead ship of the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force's first class of general-purpose destroyers. Due to her habit of staying tucked inside warm tables during cold weather, she is often humorously compared to a snail in a kotatsu.
