Overview

Battleship Ta-Class is a high-speed capital ship of the Abyssal Fleet appearing in Kantai Collection. Serving as one of the main battle line units of the enemy forces, she features a strikingly humanoid silhouette and glamorous proportions that have earned her fan nicknames such as the gravure idol of the enemy fleet. Unlike the heavily armored, low-speed Battleship Ru-Class, Ta-Class is characterized by high mobility, high accuracy, and strong evasive capabilities.

Appearance

She possesses a distinctly humanoid build with pale white skin, long white hair, and glowing blue eyes. Her attire consists of a dark sailor-style shirt paired with black bloomers or underwear. She wears a long white cape over her shoulders and carries a single piece of shoulder armor exclusively on her left side.

Personality

While she does not possess spoken dialogue in the game, she projects an ominous, non-human atmosphere combined with an alluring elegance. Portrayed with a cold and intimidating presence likened to a white fallen angel, she conveys a menacing air on the battlefield.

Abilities

Classified as a high-speed battleship, Ta-Class trades a portion of firepower and armor compared to Ru-Class for superior evasion, luck, and accuracy. Her equipment setups across Normal, Elite, and Flagship ranks include 16-inch twin or triple main guns, 12.5-inch secondary guns, recon planes, and high-spec radar. Equipped with precise targeting gear, she can perform daytime artillery spotting as well as deadly night battle double attacks and cut-in strikes.

Background

Battleship Ta-Class was first encountered in a side route of map 4-1 before becoming a major obstacle in mid-to-late ocean maps and event operations. In Extra Operation map 2-5, she served as the primary boss flagship featuring a sea area HP gauge. She became particularly feared in map 5-3, where her night battle capabilities along the approach route and within the boss escort inflicted heavy casualties on invading fleets.

Relationships

Battleship Ta-Class forms a complementary pair with Battleship Ru-Class; while Ru-Class provides heavy defense and sheer firepower, Ta-Class focuses on speed, precision, and evasion. She shares visual design traits such as a white cape with Wo-Class Aircraft Carrier and European Princess. In difficult operations, she frequently sorties alongside Heavy Cruiser Ri-Class to form dangerous combined formations.

Trivia

The character design was created by the artist oguchi. Owing to her striking appearance and high precision in combat, fans conferred on her the nicknames Skillful Ta-nee and the gravure idol of the enemy fleet. Although her Elite and Flagship forms are widely encountered, her base Normal form appears in very few locations such as map 4-1 and select event nodes, making it a surprisingly rare sight.
