Upon remodeling, she holds a flight deck under her left arm. She also has seasonal outfits, including a red string bikini paired with a bodyboard and fins, a matching swimsuit with Mogami, and casual outfits from department store collaborations.

She possesses the refined, polite disposition of a well-bred young lady. While she uses formal language similar to her sister ship Kumano, her demeanor is calm and gentle rather than haughty. She harbors a fondness for her own name, occasionally referring to herself with the cute nickname 'Kumarinko' and striking playful poses. She is notably affectionate and devoted toward the Commander.

Named after the Mikuma River flowing through the Hita Basin in Oita Prefecture, she was introduced to the game as a rare heavy cruiser obtainable primarily through specific boss nodes or large-scale ship construction. Reflecting the historical background of her ship class, her character progression allows her to transform into an aviation cruiser capable of operating seaplanes.
Relationships
She shares a close bond with her sister ship Mogami, affectionately referring to her as 'Mogamin' and seeking her company. Her fond relationship with Mogami is evident in her desire to wear matching swimsuits with her. She also shares sisterly ties with the other Mogami-class heavy cruisers, Suzuya and Kumano.
