Overview
Shirakumo is a fleet girl representing the eighth Fubuki-class destroyer in the browser game Kantai Collection. Designed by the illustrator Shibafu and voiced by Sumire Uesaka, she was introduced during the Summer 2023 limited-time event. Characterized by her exceptionally polite manner of speech and refined demeanor, she serves the Admiral with an aura reminiscent of a traditional high-class lady.
Appearance
Shirakumo features long white hair in a hime cut and grey eyes. Her standard outfit is the conventional Special Type sailor suit, consisting of a white short-sleeved shirt with a single-striped blue sailor collar, a navy necktie, a blue pleated skirt, black kneehigh socks, and boots fitted with rudders. Her equipment includes a backpack with a funnel and mast, two 610mm triple torpedo tubes strapped to her thighs, and a handheld 127mm twin gun mount Type A. In her alternate seasonal artwork, she wears a white yukata pattern with blue and yellow flowers, fastened by a light blue obi.
Personality
Shirakumo is soft-spoken and remarkably respectful, referring to the player as Teitoku-sama and speaking with elaborate, archaic phrasing. She displays a cultured background, occasionally quoting lines from The Pillow Book during idle moments. She shows a detail-oriented side in domestic tasks, such as preparing home-cooked Japanese breakfast dishes featuring herring and Hokkaido produce. She also affectionately refers to the equipment fairies who assist her with chores as her maids.
Abilities
While her base capabilities mirror those of standard Fubuki-class destroyers, her luck stat can reach a maximum of 76 upon her base remodel, making it the highest among non-Kai Ni Fubuki-class girls. When remodeled at level 40, her stock equipment includes a 12.7mm Twin Gun Mount Type A (with slight improvement), a 61cm Triple (Oxygen) Torpedo Mount, and a Type 95 Depth Charge.
Background
She debuted in August 2023 as a completion reward for the fourth map of the summer event operation. Upon joining the fleet, she introduces herself as a member of the 12th Destroyer Division under the 3rd Torpedo Squadron. After undergoing her initial remodeling, her self-introduction and hourly lines shift to reflect her historical reassignment to the 9th Destroyer Division of the 1st Torpedo Squadron.
Relationships
Shirakumo maintains a close bond with her sister ship Usugumo, frequently spending time together around the naval base. After her remodeling, she is also regularly seen alongside Kasumi and Asagumo, showing high trust toward Kasumi as her divisional leader. During seasonal events like Setsubun, she interacts with Abukuma, the flagship of the 1st Torpedo Squadron, by playfully targeting her during the bean-throwing ritual.
Trivia
Because her name shares similar kanji characters with her sister ship Shirayuki and the destroyer Shiratsuyu, some players accidentally scrapped her shortly after her release. She was featured on the cover and January page of the official 2025 KanColle calendar, for which her voice actress also provided the commercial narration.
