Appearance
Minazuki has blue eyes and asymmetrical short blue hair featuring a longer lock on the right side near her temple. Her outfit consists of a black sailor uniform top, a light blue necktie decorated with a crescent moon pin, frilled short pants, black kneehigh socks with white stripes, and grey shoes. Her back-mounted rigging features a funnel adorned with a morning glory flower on its left side, alongside a foremast, waist-belt depth charges, a 12cm gun mount, and triple torpedo tubes secured at her ankles. When damaged, light blue striped underwear is revealed. Her seasonal appearances include a Valentine look with a head bandage and a Rainy Season look wearing a yellow raincoat while carrying umbrellas.
Personality
Minazuki has a frank, outgoing, and cheerful temperament, almost constantly wearing a bright smile. She combines a tomboyish, neighborhood-leader vibe with a helpful, caring attitude, excelling at household chores despite having a slightly clumsy and lazy side. She refers to herself by her own name in conversation. While she enjoys coffee, she dislikes drinking it black. She treats the Commander with great familiarity and warmth, naturally taking on a supportive role in looking after them.
Abilities
Minazuki utilizes her lightweight destroyer mobility to perform surface attacks using her 12cm gun mount and ankle-based torpedo tubes. She is equipped with waist-mounted depth charges for anti-submarine defense, though she displays strong hesitation and psychological trauma when facing submarine threats due to her historical sinking.
Background
Historically, the destroyer Minazuki performed extensive convoy escort duties during World War II until she was ambushed and sunk by the US Navy submarine USS Harder. As the only Mutsuki-class vessel lost specifically to a submarine attack, this historical demise shapes her in-game fear of underwater units. Originally available only through event maps upon her 2016 release, she was later added to permanent map drops in Area 7-2.
Relationships
She shares a warm friendship with her 22nd Destroyer Division comrades—Satsuki, Fumizuki, and Nagatsuki—whom she calls by nicknames such as Satchin, Fumi-chan, and Naganaga. She is especially close to Satsuki and hopes to embark on a long expedition together with all four members bringing lunches. She is similarly open and affectionate toward the Commander, acting with comfortable, friendly intimacy.
Trivia
Her official nickname mentioned in developer communications is "Minamina." The morning glory flower attached to her funnel references June, the month represented by her traditional Japanese name "Minazuki." Designed by illustrator Kusada Souta, she was the first Mutsuki-class shipgirl to feature short pants as part of her standard default artwork.
