Overview

Ise is a shipgirl from Kantai Collection representing the historical Japanese super-dreadnought battleship Ise. As the lead ship of the Ise-class, she acts as a reliable and powerful senior to younger shipgirls like Fubuki while serving as one of the title screen mask characters for the game. Beneath her impressive firepower, she is a relaxed, gentle, and slightly airheaded older-sister type.

Appearance

Ise has brown hair bound into a ponytail with a red ribbon, alongside brown eyes. Her outfit consists of a modified white kimono-style top worn over a black undershirt, a brown hakama with brown socks, and sandals with red thongs. She carries a katana with a reddish-brown hilt wrap at her waist. Her large rigging includes multiple main gun turrets, which partly transition into a flight deck upon her aviation battleship remodeling.

Personality

Straightforward and proud of her firepower, Ise serves as an exemplary senior. However, she also has a goofy side, often reacting slowly when called or accidentally bumping her turrets into things. As a secretary ship, she is attentive and deeply trusting toward the Admiral. In spin-off media, she frequently acts as a comedic element, eating bauxite-infused food meant for carriers and expressing a passionate love for sumo wrestling.

Abilities

Designed to overcome the defensive flaws of the preceding Fuso-class, Ise boasts top-tier surface combat power as a dreadnought. Upon reaching level 10, she can be converted into an aviation battleship, swapping part of her heavy guns for a flight deck. Though this lowers her total main gun firepower, it yields superior anti-air capabilities, improved evasion, and efficient resource consumption. Having survived until after the war, she also possesses a high luck stat.

Background

Originating as an improved design over the Fuso-class battleships, Ise underwent a historical conversion into a hybrid aviation battleship late in World War II. Her history of surviving in Kure until the end of the conflict despite heavy damage directly influences her high luck stat and unique carrier-hybrid remodeling mechanics in the game.

Relationships

Ise shares a close, friendly bond with her sister ship Hyuuga, treating her more like a best friend and often seeking her attention. Due to her warship design lineage, she is also related to the Fuso-class battleships, Fuso and Yamashiro. She acts as a respected mentor and instructor to younger destroyers like Fubuki.

Trivia

In her standard illustration, the gun turret located near her upper body is attached to her left arm rather than her chest. Her name was inherited by the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force's Hyuuga-class helicopter destroyer JS Ise (DDH-182).
