Overview

Italia is a battleship shipgirl in Kantai Collection, representing the upgraded form of the Italian battleship Littorio. Embodying an elegant and dignified aura, she serves as a powerful main-line capital ship within the fleet.

Appearance

She has long, wavy brown hair styled in a ponytail with hair ornaments and a hair flower, alongside brown eyes. Her outfit includes a hat, necktie, gloves, a miniskirt, and bare shoulders. Compared to her pre-remodel form, her naval rigging loses its red-and-white stripes and gains extra secondary turrets. Seasonal artwork depicts her in a red bikini replacing her pareo with a towel while exhibiting an open-mouthed expression during summer, and placing her scarf on a snowman resembling Roma during Christmas.

Personality

Italia exhibits a refined, polite, and mature demeanor with a gentle, sisterly warmth. She harbors a deep love for her native culinary culture, often speaking enthusiastically about Italian cuisine such as pizza, pasta, and wine. She is also deeply affectionate toward her younger sister, frequently watching over her with care.

Abilities

She possesses high-caliber naval artillery combat capabilities as a primary battleship. Her upgraded rigging features additional secondary gun turrets, expanding her offensive armament beyond her pre-remodel state.

Background

She is based on the historical Italian Vittorio Veneto-class battleship Littorio. Following the collapse of Benito Mussolini's regime, the real-world vessel was renamed Italia to discard its fascist connotations before being turned over to the Allies. In Kantai Collection, players reach this form by leveling up and remodeling Littorio.

Relationships

She maintains a close and affectionate bond with her sister ship, Roma, whom she looks after attentively. Toward the Admiral, she acts as a dependable and gracious capital ship dedicated to supporting the fleet.

Trivia

Her character name "Italia" directly means Italy. Her transition from her original name Littorio incorporates the real-world naval history following the fall of the fascist government.
