Overview
Ancient Destroyer Princess is an Abyssal ship appearing in Kantai Collection. Classified as an older-model destroyer, she debuted during the Spring 2016 event as a formidable enemy vessel. As a higher-tier counterpart to Ancient Destroyer Oni, she exhibits combat capabilities that rival heavy warships despite her small hull classification.
Appearance
She closely resembles Ancient Destroyer Oni, though her outfit and rigging show heavy combat damage. She features pale skin, glowing blue eyes, and a mole under her left eye. Her long black hair includes a white streak and is styled into long bangs with a side ponytail featuring vertical drills, anchored by a hair ornament on her sidelock. She wears a torn grey kimono with a black hakama skirt, a white tasuki tied over her shoulder, black elbow gloves, and black high-heeled thigh boots. Her monster-like cannon turret features jaws, teeth, glowing purple muzzles, and a loose hanging hose.
Personality
During battle, she demonstrates a tragic and bewildered temperament, crying out in pain and questioning why her enemies refuse to cease their assault. Despite voicing suffering when damaged, she remains a relentless combatant who persistently thwarts incoming fleets.
Abilities
Despite her destroyer classification, her firepower approaches that of Yamato-class battleships, and her torpedo stat surpasses top-tier torpedo cruisers. She utilizes advanced Abyssal sonar and radar to launch deadly preemptive torpedo strikes. When deployed in an escort fleet, her survival into the night battle phase can prevent enemy forces from securing full victories. Later mass-produced variants feature reduced performance statistics.
Background
She made her first appearance in the final map of the May 2016 event, serving as an escort for Central Princess. Beyond acting as a dangerous barrier to clearing the event stage, she became the target of repeated bombing runs and surface engagements by admirals searching for the rare drop ship Harukaze.
Relationships
She is the advanced form of Ancient Destroyer Oni, sharing notable visual and structural elements. In combat operations, she served directly as an escort for Central Princess. Her overall aesthetic shares design cues with the ship girl Kamikaze, and her debut map tied her directly to the player search for Harukaze.
Trivia
Because her fleet positioning often prevented players from achieving complete S-rank victories during event operations, fans humorously dubbed her the 'S-Rank Absolute Denier Woman.' Her role as an obstacle for players farming rare drops also made her a frequent subject of community parodies.
