Luigi Torelli

Overview

Luigi Torelli is a submarine ship girl in Kantai Collection based on the fourth Guglielmo Marconi-class submarine of the Royal Italian Navy. Reflecting her historical background of serving across all three main Axis powers, her name, nationality, and costume change as she is remodeled—first into the German navy's UIT-25, and ultimately into the Imperial Japanese Navy's I-504.

Appearance

She has light blonde, shoulder-length hair styled to expose her forehead, paired with green eyes. In her base form, she wears a white ribbon headband, a black swimsuit with green lines, a matching life jacket, and thigh-high boots. Upon remodeling into UIT-25, her outfit changes to a black bodysuit with a black headband, and her smile disappears. As I-504, her headband turns back to white, her expression becomes cheerful again, and her attire changes to a white one-piece school swimsuit.

Personality

Extremely friendly and sociable, she possesses an innocent and cheerful demeanor. She is very free-spirited, often asking others for food since she cannot cook, and simply sleeping when tired. Despite her past of being transferred between nations, she remains untroubled by her history and talks about her past experiences with lighthearted enthusiasm. She speaks with unique vocal quirks and has a distinct pronunciation for rice balls.

Abilities

She possesses an innate anti-air stat and can trigger anti-air cut-in attacks using standard anti-air guns. She can also equip drum canisters. During her Luigi Torelli Kai phase, her firepower and torpedo stats drop significantly and she loses the ability to participate in night battles. However, advancing her remodels to UIT-25 and I-504 restores her night-battle capabilities while raising her torpedo stat and luck to high values suitable for combat.

Background

She was introduced as a drop reward during the Summer 2017 Event. Based on a vessel that served under Italy, Germany, and Japan, she was the first ship girl in the game to feature a multi-stage remodel that transitions through three different nations. Unlike some converted submarines, she retains her operational status as a submarine across all of her remodels.

Relationships

She is acquainted with U-511 (Ro-500) from their shared operations in the Atlantic Ocean. She maintains friendly ties with fellow Italian ship Libeccio and quickly forms a close friendship with the Japanese submarine I-58 after arriving at the naval base.

Trivia

Because her historical name is shared with notable figures and iconic fictional characters, she is occasionally referenced in fan creation memes involving those names. In her hourly voice lines, she casually references older Japanese television shows that she claims to have heard about from Japanese battleships.
