Overview
Arata is a character from Blue Archive who attends Hyakkiyako Alliance Academy. She serves as the leader of the Street Mouryou faction, a localized subgroup of the delinquent Mouryou Gang. Defined by her tanuki-inspired animal ears and bushy tail, she is an energetic troublemaker who frequently plots minor sabotage during local festivities. Despite her rebellious posturing, she is fundamentally an earnest girl who runs errands for townspeople to earn pocket money, making her a somewhat endearing figure among locals.
Appearance
Arata has short, multicolored blonde and brown hair with highlights, red eyes, a single fang, and short, thick eyebrows. She features animal ears, a bushy tail resembling a raccoon's, and a flat chest. Her halo glows with a golden white light in the shape of a beast's claw. She wears a yellow school uniform kimono slid off her shoulders to expose a chest-wrapped sarashi and bandages beneath, accented with hairclips, a bell hair ornament, and wooden geta clogs. She also has a swimsuit variation.
Personality
Arata is an energetic and bratty individual who loves causing mischief and interfering with others based on her own whims. However, she remains emotionally immature; whenever her pranks escalate beyond her expectations into genuine chaos, she immediately panics and retreats in tears. As a result, her subordinates do not view her as a particularly imposing boss. Deep down, she is a straight-arrow at heart who stays on good terms with local residents by running small errands for pocket money. When her actions accidentally cause serious trouble, she readily pitches in to clean up the mess and accepts her punishments.
Abilities
In combat, Arata utilizes an assault rifle as her standard weapon. As the head of the Street Mouryou group, she displays enough leadership to coordinate her gang members during disruptions. She also demonstrates practical adaptability in special competitions, such as deploying a grappling hook rope to navigate obstacle courses.
Background
As the head of the Street Mouryou faction, Arata is a habitual instigator of minor chaos across Hyakkiyako. In the main story's Hyakkaryouran chapter, her attempts to disrupt festival prep are stopped by Goryou Nagusa, and after casually agreeing to accept Shuro's help, she flees in terror from Shuro's extreme violence. During the Sacred Tree Festival event, her scheme to ruin a fireworks display accidentally sparks a forest fire, prompting her to assist in firefighting before being sentenced to community service by the Yin-Yang Bureau. She later appears in a swimsuit to enter a televised water obstacle tournament.
Relationships
Goryou Nagusa strictly represses Arata whenever she acts up, yet treats her like an overly energetic child during calm moments. Shuro once offered her help, but Arata was terrified by Shuro's sheer destructive force and ran away. After unintentionally ruining Umika's fireworks, Arata joined her in putting out the resulting fire to protect the festival. She also established a warm friendship with Ranmaru; though Arata initially took Ranmaru's helmet at a gang gathering, Ranmaru later comforted her when the event failed, leading them to bond and play together around town.
Trivia
Arata's design motif is based on a tanuki (Japanese raccoon dog), though her tail visuals strongly resemble those of a raccoon. Her assault rifle is modeled after the Japanese Type 89 assault rifle, a standard-issue weapon historically utilized by the Japan Self-Defense Forces.
