Kokona

Overview

Sunohara Kokona is a character from Blue Archive. She is a first-year student at Shanhaijing Senior Secondary School who serves as an instructor for the disciplinary support club Meihua Yuan. Despite being only eleven years old, her extraordinary academic talent earned her a grade skip and instructor authority. Though small in stature, she works diligently to educate and care for the younger children in the garden.

Appearance

Kokona has a small frame with a height of 139 centimeters and features tiger-like animal ears. She has long silver hair styled with gradient tones and prominent side locks, along with red eyes. Floating above her head is a halo featuring a three-petaled lotus pattern. She wears a black cheongsam-style dress complemented by short black socks and sneakers.

Personality

Kokona tries her best to act like a mature and dependable instructor, deeply disliking being treated like a young child or addressed with overly casual diminutives. Despite her efforts, her true age shows through her daily routine of stretching to grow taller and her intense dislike of carrots and green peppers. She can easily burst into tears when overwhelmed or teased, yet she remains dedicated to her duties and highly relies on her older sister.

Abilities

Equipped with an assault rifle named Lady's Elegance based on the QBZ-03, Kokona serves as a Striker-class healer. Her EX Skill uses a low cost to restore HP to a chosen ally and herself while generating a Hanamaru Stamp. Her Normal Skill heals the ally with the lowest HP and adds another stamp whenever the team lands one hundred critical hits. Once five stamps are gathered, her Sub Skill heals her own HP and lowers the skill cost for all other team members once.

Background

Although normally at an elementary school age, Kokona skipped grades due to her superior intellect to become an instructor at Shanhaijing Senior Secondary School. She spends her time managing the children at Meihua Yuan, though she occasionally struggles when left without her sister's support. During various crises and events at Shanhaijing, she assists by defending emergency shelters, helping with investigations, and receiving visiting delegates.

Relationships

Kokona looks up to her older sister, Sunohara Shun, depending on her guidance both personally and professionally. In her interactions with Sensei, she attempts to display the dignity of an instructor, though Sensei frequently ends up flustering her by getting her to try bitter coffee or prompting her to eat hated carrots. She also interacts with notable Shanhaijing figures such as Kisaki of Genryumon and Rumi of the Genbu Commercial Association.

Trivia

Her design motif is understood to be the Zouyu, a legendary benevolent white tiger from the Classic of Mountains and Seas. Her signature weapon is modeled after the QBZ-03 assault rifle used by the Chinese military. Being eleven years old, she is tied as one of the youngest named students in the game, highlighting the contrast between her status as a grade-skipping prodigy and her childlike behavior.
