Overview
Ikekura Marina is a character from the mobile game Blue Archive. A second-year student at Red Winter Federal Academy, she serves as the head of the Security Committee responsible for maintaining order across the school. Working closely alongside Council President Cherino Renkawa, Marina follows orders with absolute single-mindedness. Though rumors frame her as a ruthless enforcer, she is at heart a hot-headed, headstrong leader whose dramatic charges often lead to unexpected mishaps.
Appearance
Marina features short blonde hair cut in a mushroom-style trim, alongside yellow eyes with vertical slit pupils and a distinctive halo above her head. In her default attire, she wears gloves and mid-calf boots. During exchange events, she wears a Chinese-style qipao dress complemented by a headband, earrings, high heels, and a folding fan. She wields a submachine gun fitted with a drum magazine attached via a gun sling.
Personality
Marina approaches her duties with serious dedication, but her hot-headed nature and rigid thinking often lead to comical misunderstandings. She loves the idea of charging in headfirst, though her lack of direction frequently leaves her lost. Under pressure, panic can drive her to absurd decisions—including leading spontaneous coups to avoid punishment from her superior. Despite her tough composure, she is deathly afraid of stray cats and cannot sleep comfortably without her cherished bear plushie, Medved.
Abilities
In combat, Marina acts as a front-line evasion tank armed with her submachine gun, Balalaika. Her EX Skill delivers damage in a wide arc while knocking back opponents and reducing their incoming healing. She also possesses a passive capability that renders her temporarily unkillable when her health drops below a critical threshold. Her high natural evasion allows her to withstand intense enemy fire. In her Qipao variation, her role shifts to a front-line attacker focusing on damage-over-time poison effects.
Background
As the head of Red Winter's Security Committee, Marina spends her days quelling revolts and enforcing school laws. However, after accidentally destroying a statue of Cherino, sheer panic convinced her that launching her own coup was the only way to avoid purge, resulting in her swift defeat and demotion to latrine duty—a cycle of rebellion and punishment that repeats regularly. During a diplomatic visit to Shanhaijing Senior High School, she adapted to unfamiliar traditions and outfits to help secure the event.
Relationships
Marina serves as the immediate subordinate of Cherino Renkawa, dutifully executing her purge orders while periodically rebelling against her when driven by panic. She regularly interacts with fellow officer Tomoe Sashiro and various student factions across Red Winter during political upheavals. Outside her school, she finds an unexpected kinship with students such as Makoto Hanuma from Gehenna and Mina Konoe from Shanhaijing.
Trivia
Marina's signature firearm, Balalaika, is modeled after the real-world Soviet PPSh-41 submachine gun, sharing the historical firearm's actual nickname. Unlike most Red Winter students whose halos feature gear or snowflake motifs, her halo uniquely resembles an inverted peace symbol. The name of her favorite bear plushie, Medved, literally means 'bear' in Russian.
