Overview
Kinui Rena is a character from the mobile RPG Blue Archive, developed by NEXON Games and published by Yostar. She is a first-year student at Wild Hunt Art Academy and a member of the school's Occult Studies Club. Majoring in fashion design, she aspires to become the top fashion designer in Kivotos. Although she joined the club simply because she was assigned to room 404 in the fourth dormitory alongside its founders, she plays an active role in their activities while honing her creative talents.
Appearance
Rena has brown hair featuring yellow highlights styled into twintails with black ribbons, along with purple eyes and a yellow halo. She wears a white collared shirt beneath a yellow cardigan, paired with a black neck ribbon and a frilled black skirt. Her outfit is decorated with hairclips, hair bows, and multiple X-shaped accessories. Her legwear is asymmetrical, consisting of loose socks and a shorter sock paired with platform shoes. She has yellow nail polish, carries a small yellow handbag, and wields a compact, customized handgun decorated with ribbons and a yellow-and-brown paint scheme.
Personality
Rena is a textbook tsundere who finds it difficult to be straightforward about her feelings. Expressive and easily scared by horror and ghost stories, she adamantly claims that the occult is completely fake and can be scientifically explained. Despite claiming she only participates in club events to disprove supernatural phenomena, she has gradually grown invested in them herself. She often makes a cat-like hissing noise when intimidated or startled, and while she pretends not to care about her clubmates, she reliably steps up to help them in moments of need.
Abilities
In combat, Rena serves as an explosive-attribute STRIKER supporter positioned in the middle line. Her EX skill clears debuffs from a single ally while boosting their defense, simultaneously increasing the attack power and critical damage of SPECIAL students. Her normal skill periodically restores HP to both herself and an ally, granting her party enhanced defense and steady combat longevity.
Background
Having enjoyed crafting small accessories for her friends since childhood, Rena realized her passion for bringing joy to others through clothing design. Upon entering Wild Hunt Art Academy, her assignment to room 404 in the fourth dormitory led directly to her involvement with the Occult Studies Club created by her roommates. Though she frequently finds herself caught up in the trouble caused by their bizarre rituals—such as getting punished by the hall monitors or sneaking around campus to complete magical circles—she ultimately finds happiness in their shared adventures.
Relationships
Rena shares room 404 with her fellow Occult Studies Club members Shiina Tsumugi, Shirao Eri, and Itagaki Kanoe. As the most grounded person in a club full of eccentrics, she is doted on by the others like a younger sister. Kanoe frequently teases her over her feline hissing habit, claiming Rena was her pet cat in a past life. Outside of her school, she maintains contact with students from other academies, such as Shima Konoka and Hakui Tsubasa, through an occult-themed social media platform.
Trivia
Rena's handgun, the "Self-Defense Sewing Gun," is modeled after the Beretta Px4 Storm SubCompact. On social media, she maintains an account under the handle @gurumin_official.
