Wakamo

Overview

Wakamo Kosaka is an 18-year-old student from Hyakkiyako Alliance Academy in Blue Archive, currently under suspension. Known as the "Fox of Calamity," she is one of the escaped "Seven Prisoners" from the General Corrections Bureau, widely feared for her unpredictable and large-scale rampages. Despite her notoriety as a dangerous fugitive who delights in destruction and looting, her life changes drastically after falling in love at first sight with Sensei. Behind her terrifying public reputation lies an excessively devoted and passionate maiden who prioritizes Sensei above all else.

Appearance

Wakamo features long reddish-brown hair with inner highlights, golden-yellow eyes, fluffy fox ears, and a large fox tail adorned with a ribbon. Her combat attire consists of a black floral-patterned kimono style with wide sleeves, paired with a choker, fingerless gloves, asymmetrical torn thigh-high socks, high-heeled boots, and a thigh strap. She conceals her face behind a distinctive red-and-black fox mask, which she removes during private dates or when attempting to blend in. Her halo is red, featuring a ring adorned with cherry blossom motifs. In her summer attire, she wears a swimsuit with an outer layer, carrying a parasol and wearing sandals.

Personality

To the public, Wakamo is an unpredictable and ruthless force of nature who causes immense collateral damage without hesitation. However, her temperament shifts entirely in the presence of Sensei. She displays intense devotion, bordering on extreme obsession, treating anyone who interferes with their time together as an obstacle to be eliminated. Despite her fierce combativeness, she is emotionally fragile around Sensei; being scolded often reduces her to tears, prompting her to hide behind her mask and run away. Under proper guidance, she makes genuine efforts to control her violent impulses.

Abilities

Wakamo is a versatile strategic fighter capable of instantly mastering complex technology, heavy artillery, and psychological manipulation. Her primary firearm is a customized Arisaka Type 99 short rifle named "Crimson Calamity," fitted with a bayonet. She is also adept at commandeering heavy gear, including a double-barrel shotgun, RPG-7 rocket launchers, and a Zubr-class hovercraft outfitted with vertical missile launch systems. In combat, her default form functions as a Mystic-attribute back-row attacker whose EX skill accumulates all damage dealt by the team over ten seconds and unleashes it as massive Mystic damage that ignores enemy defensive stats. Her swimsuit variant acts as a Penetration-attribute attacker capable of inflicting stuns on targets.

Background

Formerly a student at Hyakkiyako Alliance Academy, Wakamo was suspended after causing extensive destruction and was sent to the General Corrections Bureau, from which she subsequently escaped. She was previously apprehended by the elite FOX Squad of SRT Special Academy. During her initial encounter with Sensei while raiding SCHALE, she fell in love at first sight, causing her to lose all will to fight and retreat in embarrassment. Since then, she frequently breaks out of custody to pursue and stay close to Sensei. She has played prominent roles in major events, including defending SCHALE during crisis situations, orchestrating chaotic Valentine's Day events to deliver chocolate, and assisting during summer resort operations.

Relationships

Wakamo harbors unwavering affection for Sensei, whom she addresses respectfully as "Anata-sama" or "Gokaku." Her intense obsession leads to a strong mutual hostility with Shiroko Sunaookami, as both possess aggressive protective instincts over Sensei. She shares a history with the FOX Squad of SRT Special Academy, who were responsible for her prior arrest. While she occasionally allies with or commands local delinquent groups such as the Helmet Gang, she will ruthlessly turn against them the moment she suspects they pose any threat to Sensei.

Trivia

Wakamo's design and concept are believed to be inspired by Tamamo-no-Mae, the legendary nine-tailed fox. Despite her severe criminal record, her official academic status is listed as "suspended" rather than expelled, meaning she still legally retains her student registration at Hyakkiyako Alliance Academy. Story lore hints that she may be the "Legendary Chimatsuri-ichiza," a figure said to have fought the president of the Hyakkaroryōan Dispute Resolution Committee to a draw a hundred times two years prior using various masks. Mechanically, she was the very first Anniversary (Fes) playable character released in Blue Archive.
