Appearance
She features long pale pink hair parted in the middle and tied into twintails at the base of two large fluffy fox ears with black ribbons. She has white skin, red eyes with eyeshadow, a halo, and multiple pale pink fox tails. Her outfit combines a purple sleeveless midriff-exposing top and spats with a draped open white coat featuring wide sleeves styled after a kariginu. On her feet, she wears sports sandals equipped with black geta thongs and clog teeth on the soles. She is routinely seen holding a slender kiseru smoking pipe.
Personality
Kuzunoha speaks in an archaic, dignified princess dialect, referring to herself using the traditional pronoun warawa. She often expresses herself in cryptic, riddle-like statements, though she can display a humorous, impatient side when visitors take too long to arrive. She holds a wise outlook that emphasizes treasuring the present moment and moving toward the future.
Abilities
She possesses the ability to commune with individuals trapped in abnormal spiritual states and can cleanse corruption caused by the Chroma. She holds inherent exorcism powers capable of nullifying the protections of spectral books and striking supernatural anomalies or their users directly, even with her bare hands or ordinary implements. She also forged the spirit rifle Hyakuren using her own power and is capable of conventional firearm combat.
Background
Centuries prior to the unification of Hyakkiyako, Kuzunoha established the Hyakkaryouran Conflict Resolution Council and served as its first leader. She eventually resided in the secluded Twilight Temple located deep in the mountains of the Ebisu Branch School. During the Eden Treaty crisis, she saved Yurizono Seia from Chroma corruption by taking her foresight ability in exchange. She later encountered Sensei, Nagusa, and Shuro at her ruined temple, offering guidance on letting go of past losses to embrace the future.
Relationships
She contacted Yurizono Seia in a mental realm, freeing her from Chroma influence in exchange for her foresight. She entrusted Nagusa with a message for Sensei and later offered her counsel when they met. She subdued Shuro upon her arrival at the Twilight Temple while addressing the origin of spectral phenomena. Toward Sensei, she initially offered assistance regarding salvation before imparting her perspective on moving forward.
Trivia
Her character design is inspired by Kuzunoha, the legendary fox spirit from Japanese folklore associated with Abe no Seimei's mother and divine messengers of Ukanomitama. She serves as the commentary narrator during the Kurokage Total Assault boss encounter. According to official artbooks, her visual design was created by the illustrator DoReMi.
