Overview
Fuwa Renge is a character from the mobile game Blue Archive. She is a second-year student at Hyakkiyako Alliance Academy and serves as the assault captain within the Hyakkaryouran Conflict Resolution Council. Known as a strict drill instructor who shows no leniency when training lowerclassmen, she possesses a strong sense of justice and camaraderie. Despite her serious focus on her duties and physical training, she harbors a deep longing for the romantic, ideal youth depicted in manga and light novels, prompting her to actively seek out dramatic teenage experiences.
Appearance
Renge has red hair tied into a high ponytail, with jagged bangs, a side-swept fringe, and prominent hair intakes. She has red eyes accented with matching red eyeshadow. Distinctive physical traits include a single black horn protruding from the left side of her forehead and a thick red dragon tail. Her primary attire consists of a white skirt and a haori worn over a sideless shirt that leaves her torso exposed, complemented by wooden geta clogs. In her swimsuit outfit, she wears a bikini top featuring a rabbit-ear bow, hot pants, flip-flops, and an anklet.
Personality
Renge is a passionate, athletic direct-action type who throws her entire weight into whatever she undertakes. Though she cares deeply for her comrades, her rigid expectations during physical instruction earn her a intimidating reputation among underclassmen. She is deeply fascinated by light novels and high school romance tropes, frequently referring to Sensei as her "Youth Master" while attempting to recreate cliché romantic scenarios. When overcome by embarrassment or in need of clearing her mind, she habitually resorts to intense physical exercises like jumping jacks to calm down.
Abilities
In combat, Renge acts as a long-range STRIKER attacker, utilizing her customized sniper rifle, the Hyakkaryouran Official Rifle - Spark of Youth. Her EX Skill, Hyakkaryouran Style Marksmanship, delivers damage to enemies in a frontal cone while inflicting a burn effect over time. Through her passive routines, she periodically gains a Passion state that boosts her attack power and causes her attacks to deal extra damage while active. In her swimsuit form, she manages a Water Pressure mechanic to expend stacks for enhanced single-target EX Skill strikes and gains a bonus to Sonic effectiveness.
Background
Following the suspension of the Hyakkaryouran Council, Renge fell into despair regarding her own powerlessness and temporarily abandoned hopes of restoring the club. During this period, she bounced between various school clubs—including the Shugyoubu and unconventional interest groups—attempting to sample standard student life. However, after responding to the crisis caused by Shuro of the Kachoufuugetsu Council, she reconciled with her fellow members and returned to her post. She later took part in diplomatic and investigative missions to the northern autonomous district and competed in the Hyakuya Water Festival.
Relationships
Kiryu Kikyou is Renge's childhood friend and fellow Council officer. She shares deep ties of loyalty with her clubmates, including Goryo Nagusa, Kadeyokouji Yukari, and Nanakado Ayame. She holds Sensei in high regard as her guiding figure in understanding adolescence, often dragging them into her romantic experiments. She maintains friendly ties with members of the Shugyoubu such as Kuda Izuna, Waraku Chise, and Mizuha Mimori, whom she frequently interacts with during school events and competitions.
Trivia
Renge's firearm design is based on shortened variants of Japanese service rifles such as the Type 38 and Type 99 short rifles. Despite carrying the title of assault captain and performing charging animations during skill execution, her combat position is classified as BACK due to her long weapon range. Within the narrative and community, her slender physique is a recurring comedic topic, notably highlighted when Kikyou once mistook her front for her back. The floral meaning of the renge (lotus corniculatus) includes phrases related to relieving pain.
