Overview

Izuna Kuda is a first-year student from Hyakkiyako Alliance Academy and a member of the Ninjutsu Research Club in Blue Archive. Determined to become the strongest ninja in Kivotos—a dream most around her view as pure fiction—she approaches her training with boundless energy. Enthusiastic and fiercely loyal, she affectionately addresses Sensei as her master and devotes herself to serving as their bodyguard.

Appearance

Izuna has short dark hair, yellow eyes highlighted with eyeshadow, fox ears, a fluffy thick tail, and a pink halo shaped like a cherry blossom. Her standard outfit features a sleeveless sailor shirt paired with a short pleated skirt, over which she wears a vibrant warm-colored floral kimono draped off one shoulder, alongside a red scarf around her neck. Her legwear is asymmetrical, consisting of a black high sock on her right leg and fishnet tights on her left, both worn with loafers. She carries a kunai in a thigh holster and wields a customized early-production Type 100 submachine gun with fox motifs. In her swimsuit attire, she wears a striped bikini with shorts, a sun hat, and sandals, while retaining her red scarf.

Personality

Cheerful, energetic, and extraordinarily friendly, Izuna manifests her moods plainly through the eager twitching of her fox ears and thick tail. She takes her ninja path very seriously, though her clumsy and headstrong nature often causes her stealth attempts to end in comical failure, such as tripping or leaving her ringtone on. While her earnest naivety once left her vulnerable to trickery, she repays Sensei's validation of her dream with unwavering devotion. Despite her outgoing demeanor, she can become flustered around Sensei and harbors a secret embarrassment over being unable to swim despite her longing for water ninja techniques.

Abilities

Izuna excels at high-speed mobile combat fueled by her strong physical talents. Her EX skill enables her to instantly teleport to a target position while leaving behind a decoy, boosting both her attack speed and attack power for a duration. Her normal skill hurls an explosive kunai every six basic attacks, dealing heavy area-of-effect damage. Her customized submachine gun is fully waterproof for underwater use, and she can summon it from a ramune bottle using ninja magic. She also utilizes smoke grenades and handmade fox plushies for replacement techniques.

Background

Originally pursuing her ninja dreams in isolation, Izuna first appeared during the Hyakkiyako Cherry Blossom Festival after being tricked into working for a group attempting to ruin the event. Upon realizing her employer was manipulating her and hearing Sensei earnestly defend the cool nature of a ninja's dream, she joined Sensei's side to restore peace to the festival. She then pledged lifelong allegiance to Sensei as their bodyguard. After passing an entry interview with Chidori Michiru and Ono Tsukuyo to join the Ninjutsu Research Club, she has participated in various operations alongside her clubmates, including northern snowfield expeditions and resolving academy conflicts.

Relationships

Izuna views Sensei with total trust and respect, addressing them as her master. She routinely accompanies Sensei on long leisure activities, such as marathoning eight-hour ninja period dramas, visiting collaboration cafes, and going boat rowing. Within the Ninjutsu Research Club, she shares a close bond with her senior Chidori Michiru and fellow member Ono Tsukuyo, who accepted her into the club after recognizing her authentic ninja expertise. She also receives special mission requests from Niya, the head of the Yin-Yang Department.

Trivia

Her character design is inspired by the Kudagitsune, a spirit fox archetype also known as Izuna in certain Japanese regions. She was among the earliest students to receive a dedicated 3D showcase video, titled Izuna-style Ninja Art: By Aruji-dono's Side!. In real-world promotions, she represented her academy in JR Central's Oshi Tabi collaboration, providing exclusive train announcements. Her sand-bath training scene from her swimsuit event became immensely popular among fans, giving rise to the well-known sunken colony Izuna meme.
