Overview
Kei is a character from Blue Archive. Originally an activation AI protocol designated as "<Key>" created by the Nameless Priests, she was embedded within Tendou Aris to trigger the destruction of the world. After Saiba Momoi misread her program identifier, she adopted the name "Kei." Following various body transitions and heroic sacrifices, she sheds her role as a harbinger of ruin to become an official student at Millennium Science School.
Appearance
Kei originally lacks a distinct physical body. When possessing Tendou Aris, she displays glowing pinkish-red eyes, a stern expression, and a red halo mirrored from Aris's. Her consciousness is later loaded into a small toy robot equipped with a USB port, and subsequently into a non-humanoid AMAS robot designed by Tsukatsuki Rio, which features a screen showing her expressions and a mirrored red halo. She later inhabits a pure white, inorganic body retrieved from Decagrammaton's discarded creations. Her final form wears the Millennium Science School uniform—a white jacket, collared shirt, blue necktie, and black pleated skirt—with long dark hair tied by a large black ribbon, glowing pinkish-red eyes, and a mirrored halo.
Personality
Initially, Kei displays a mechanical and strict demeanor, fiercely focused on fulfilling her programmed objective and hostile toward humanity. However, as she interacts with the Game Development Department and Sensei, her passionate and deeply caring side emerges. She possesses a tsundere personality, readily expressing exasperation and flustered indignation—such as her vocal complaints over being placed inside Tsukatsuki Rio's robot body. Beneath her sharp retorts lies a steadfast determination and a deep devotion to protecting Tendou Aris.
Abilities
Kei possesses exceptional electronic warfare capabilities, demonstrated by instantly seizing control of the fortress city Eridu's systems. She can freely transfer her data and consciousness across various hardware, including handheld game consoles, toy robots, AMAS units, and synthetic bodies. While in the AMAS shell, she can deploy barriers, visualize energy flows like auroras, and maintain instant mental links with Tendou Aris. In her Decagrammaton body, she exercises refined authority over the power of the Nameless Gods to reconstruct equipment like Avi-Eshuh, enlarge Neo Avant-Garde, and absorb Prophet cores. Ultimately, she gives up her origin protocol to reconstruct her own body using external resources.
Background
Created by the Nameless Priests as a trigger protocol embedded within AL-1S (Tendou Aris), Kei was designed to turn Aris into a harbinger of world destruction. After awakening in ancient ruins, her program was transferred to Saiba Momoi's handheld game console, where Momoi gave her the name "Kei." During the Pavane arc, she seized Aris's body to execute protocol ATRAHASIS, but was ultimately thwarted. In a later crisis, she sacrificed herself to save Aris, though her core data was preserved inside a small toy robot. During the Decagrammaton arc, she returned using an AMAS robot body, eventually forcing a transfer into a discarded synthetic frame. By relinquishing her role as the Nameless Priests' Key, she reconstructed herself into a true student of Millennium Science School.
Relationships
Initially addressing Tendou Aris as "Princess" to fulfill her protocol, Kei gradually forms a profound bond with her, coming to regard her as family. Saiba Momoi inadvertently bestowed Kei her name, though Kei retaliated during her initial transfer by deleting Momoi's save data. Akeboshi Himari and Tsukatsuki Rio played key roles in her physical revivals, though Kei famously despised the robot body designed by Rio. She maintains a sharp yet trusting relationship with Sensei, often becoming easily flustered whenever Sensei teases her.
Trivia
Her name "Kei" originates from Saiba Momoi misreading her program identifier "<Key>." When the cafe furniture item "Past Memories" (the AMAS body) is placed, interacting with Kei restores her facial expressions onto the robot's screen, causing her to ride around on top of it. Additionally, her toy robot form is included as a mop strap accessory in the 30MP Maid Aris plastic model kit.
