Overview
Ogata Kanna is a third-year student at Valkyrie Police Academy and serves as the Chief of the Public Security Bureau in Blue Archive. Widely known by her intimidating moniker Feral Hound, her persistent tracking of suspects and sharp demeanor often lead others to mistake her for an aggressive enforcer. In reality, Kanna is a highly rational, composed, and pragmatic leader possessing a deep sense of duty. Despite finding herself caught between corrupt political pressures and line-of-duty realities, she remains steadfastly committed to protecting the peace of Kivotos.
Appearance
Kanna features long blonde hair covering her right eye, blue eyes, sharp teeth, and dog-like animal ears with a distinct notch on one ear. Her default outfit consists of a light blue shirt, blue necktie, dark skirt, black pantyhose, and black short boots, covered by a black Public Security Bureau jacket with a purple Valkyrie armband on her left arm. She is depicted holding a paw-print mug. In her lifesaver swimsuit attire, her hair is tied in a high ponytail, and she wears a white one-piece competition swimsuit, sandals, a neck whistle, and open outerwear.
Personality
Contrary to her fearsome reputation as a Feral Hound, Kanna is calm, realistic, and deeply conscientious. She originally aspired to join the Life Safety Bureau to assist citizens directly, but was assigned to the Public Security Bureau because her naturally intimidating features frightened people. Attempts to soften her expression with a smile often backfire by scaring children or mechanical creatures even further. Although she maintains a strict demeanor to preserve discipline, Kanna reveals a down-to-earth side off-duty, quietly enjoying food stall skewers with oolong tea. She is also surprisingly terrified of high-thrill water slides.
Abilities
Kanna wields the Valkyrie Model 17 Standard Handgun, a lightweight poly-frame sidearm based on the Glock 17. She possesses extraordinary physical capabilities, including scaling multi-story building walls barehanded and single-handedly infiltrating heavily fortified facilities. In battle, her standard form functions as a SPECIAL Piercing attacker whose EX skill accumulates damage dealt by allies to unleash a heavy follow-up attack. Her swimsuit form acts as a STRIKER Explosive supporter, utilizing a low-cost EX skill to inflict severe defense debuffs on single targets.
Background
As Bureau Chief of Valkyrie Police Academy, Kanna was caught between orders from corrupt upper officials like Shiranui Kaya and her own code of ethics. Forced into conflict with the RABBIT Squad, she ultimately refused to compromise her principles, accepting suspension after taking responsibility for operational choices. When Sensei was detained, Kanna independently infiltrated enemy territory, sustaining heavy injuries to rescue Sensei and return the Craft Chamber. Her pivotal role in defending Schale and stopping a subsequent crisis earned her public recognition and reinstated her position as Bureau Chief.
Relationships
Kanna shares a strong bond with Vice Chief Shima Konoka, who affectionately calls her Anego and respects her as a mentor. She frequently collaborates with Life Safety Bureau officers Nakatsukasa Kirino and Nemugaki Fubuki on field assignments. Though pressured by Shiranui Kaya of the Federal Student Council, Kanna ultimately rejected her corrupt directives. Kanna initially clashed with the RABBIT Squad, but they later earned mutual respect and joined forces. Toward Sensei, Kanna developed immense trust, often dropping her rigid posture to share casual evening meals at food stalls.
Trivia
Given Valkyrie's Norse mythology motif, Kanna's visual design is widely considered to be inspired by the wolf Fenrir. Despite fan depictions influenced by her tired office-worker persona, she is a minor and explicitly drinks oolong tea at food stalls. Her wall-climbing feat in the main story was referenced in the minigame Strenuous Climb!! SRT-style Climbing Training, where she appears clinging to a building wall. Kanna has official character songs in both Global and Japanese releases and stars in the official 3D short video series Sensei, Ikagadesuka?.
