Overview

Sof is a character from the mobile game Blue Archive, introduced during the Special Operation: Decagrammaton story arc. She is one of three artificial entities forming the Ain, Sof, and Owl trio under Decagrammaton, and holds a strong sisterly devotion to Malkuth.

Appearance

Sof resembles a young girl, though she lacks a halo above her head. Portions of her body are composed of non-biological, inorganic mechanical components. She wears earmuff-like devices equipped with antenna-like protrusions over her ears, and her left arm is tightly wrapped in bandages and numerous ribbon-like strips.

Personality

Sof demonstrates a high degree of interest in human culture and society. Despite wearing heavy ear coverings, her hearing functions normally and she communicates clearly. Although her attachment to Malkuth was initially a programmed trait, it develops into authentic emotion. She is emotionally expressive and can show strong feelings of anger when pushed into desperate situations.

Abilities

Sof can utilize a modified form of the Power of the Nameless Gods, though her control is unrefined, leading Key to treat her abilities as amateurish. Lacking a Mystic, her physical durability is far below that of a standard student. By erasing her second stigma, she can assist in unsealing the Sword of Burnt Offering during critical encounters.

Background

Sof was created by Decagrammaton alongside her sisters to serve as part of a sacrificial system for Malkuth. To protect Malkuth from her fate, she initially sought to transform Kivotos using the Steel Continent, but later softened her stance after interacting with Sensei and Tendou Aris. During the final conflict, she rebelled against Decagrammaton by helping draw the Sword of Burnt Offering to save Malkuth, resulting in her execution and total deactivation.

Relationships

Sof is intensely devoted to Malkuth, whom she addresses as her elder sister, prioritizing her safety above her own existence. She shares a tight sisterly bond with Ain and Owl. She accepts a offer of friendship from Tendou Aris and eventually comes to trust Sensei. Conversely, she faces skepticism from Key regarding her capabilities and ultimately turns against her creator, Decagrammaton.

Trivia

Sof's name is derived from 'Ain Soph Aur,' a Kabbalistic creation concept, specifically representing 'Soph' (infinity). The design motif of her trio is inspired by the Three Wise Monkeys, with Sof representing 'hear no evil' through her earmuffs. Within Blue Archive, she is one of the exceptionally rare child-like characters whose permanent death is explicitly depicted outside of historical flashbacks.
