Overview

Hieronymus is a raid boss in Blue Archive, featured in both Total Assault and Grand Assault modes as well as the main story's Eden Treaty arc. Created by Maestro of Gematria, this artificial angel and divine monster represents the first successful creation under the Communio Sanctorum project, later followed by Gregorius.

Appearance

Hieronymus is a tall, slender, faceless entity wearing priest-like robes with a hood. It features a halo-like ring above its head, ornate decorative elements on its back, and four arms. Two of the arms hold a decorated staff, while the other two are held together in prayer. At Insane difficulty and higher, its appearance turns predominantly white mixed with red highlights.

Personality

Hieronymus displays no explicit personal thoughts or speech, maintaining a solemn, dogmatic posture with folded hands. It is regarded by its creator, Maestro, as a sublime masterpiece capable of embodying the doctrine.

Abilities

Hieronymus uses Explosive-type attacks. Its Damasus' Invocation skill deals area damage that scales higher as the targets' HP decreases. Vulgata afflicts a ally with a damaging curse, cleansed only when the target is healed to 100% HP. It also executes the broad-range Lion's Salvation, and inflicts damage every 10 seconds through Desert Pain, which triggers a wipe attack when its ATG gauge fills completely. Restoring the Green Relic on the field applies a cumulative damage-taken debuff to the boss.

Background

Hieronymus was born when Maestro utilized ancient doctrines sealed beneath the Trinity General School to flesh out a synthetic divine entity. It debuted in Volume 3, Chapter 3, Episode 24 of the main story, where an incomplete form without its relics was activated to challenge Sensei alongside troops of Justina Council followers.

Relationships

Maestro is its creator, viewing Hieronymus as a prime demonstration of his concepts. Within the Communio Sanctorum lineage, Gregorius serves as a later model built upon the foundation of Hieronymus. It battles against Sensei and their assembled students.

Trivia

The boss's name and skill set derive from Saint Jerome (Hieronymus), famed for translating the Latin Vulgata Bible. When the Green Relic is completely healed during raid battles, a thumbs-up icon pops up above it, becoming a popular running joke among fans. Its battle theme is 'Library of Omen', composed by KRUT.
