Overview

Goz is a prominent large-scale boss enemy appearing in the mobile game Blue Archive. Featured primarily as a challenging encounter within Total Assault and Elimination Assault game modes, Goz presents itself as a massive, obese cat outfitted in flamboyant magician attire. Operating within the abandoned ruins of the Slumpia amusement park, this adversary tests players with complex stage-magic illusions, clone-identification mechanics, and punishing area-of-effect attacks, earning a reputation as one of the most mechanically demanding boss battles in the title.

Appearance

Goz is a large-scale boss character defined by its appearance as an obese cat dressed in a magician's outfit. It wears a top hat on its head and utilizes illusionist props during battle. The entity interacts with blue playing cards during its mechanics and temporarily vanishes from sight before reappearing alongside two identical clones on the battlefield.

Personality

Embodying the persona of an eccentric stage magician, Goz exhibits highly theatrical and unpredictable behavior. Despite its rounded, cat-like physical design, it projects an eerie and unsettling atmosphere through its dramatic gestures and stage tricks. Goz behaves like a sinister trickster who delights in confusing opponents with optical illusions and shell games, blending whimsical showmanship with a menacing, chaotic presence throughout combat encounters.

Abilities

Goz possesses the Special Armor defense type and Explosive attack attribute. Its signature skill, "Now You See Us," clears debuffs and temporary invisibility before generating two clones that mimic its movements. Its arsenal includes "Three Light Monte," dealing delayed area damage, "Magical Coin Hat," which shuffles hats to inflict knockback and stun, and "Surprise Present," which pulls explosives from a hat. Additionally, "Scream Rider" summons a linear vehicle attack while spawning Slumpia soldiers, and the passive "Prank or Protect" alters Goz's damage output and healing reception when shields are active.

Background

Goz originally existed as an amused doll within the Slumpia theme park before deteriorating into its current form. Associated with the enigmatic group Gematria, it resides within the abandoned remains of the Slumpia amusement park grounds. In Blue Archive, Goz appears as a high-tier raid boss in Total Assault, challenging players to navigate its deceptive stage mechanics and high-damage output.

Relationships

Goz commands the Slumpia soldiers, summoning these themed minions to swarm the battlefield during combat encounters to distract opponents. Furthermore, its underlying existence and backstory are intrinsically tied to the secret organization Gematria as well as the historical downfall of the ruined Slumpia amusement park where it resides.

Trivia

The title of Goz's battle BGM, "!⸮ WAS IT A CAT I SAW ?!", is a palindrome, and the track incorporates altered vocal recordings of its composer, KARUT, laughing. Although the fight is infamous among players for its strict position-shifting and shielding requirements, its dramatic phase transitions and soundtrack receive high praise. Additionally, its name was temporarily misspelled as "Gozu" (ゴーズ) in certain early in-game text descriptions.
