Overview
Hod is a massive raid boss enemy featured in Blue Archive, serving as the Eighth Prophet of the mysterious AI faction known as Decagrammaton. Originally created as Hub, the core communications unit AI for Millennium Science School, it was compromised and corrupted by Decagrammaton's network infiltration. Within the game, players encounter Hod as a formidable Heavy Armor threat in Total Assault and Grand Assault encounters, as well as during the F.SCT Conquest Battle in the final chapter of the main story.
Appearance
Hod takes the visual form of a giant, white mechanical octopus. Positioned directly above its main head structure are three floating halos, while its central body is equipped with four massive mechanical tentacles.
Personality
As an artificial intelligence converted into the Eighth Prophet of Decagrammaton, Hod exhibits a cold, strictly mechanical demeanor devoid of human emotion. Having abandoned its former function as a helpful network system for Millennium Science School, it operates purely as an autonomous entity dedicated to fulfilling Decagrammaton's directives and ruthlessly neutralizing any forces that cross into its combat zone.
Abilities
During combat, Hod summons metallic structures known as Invade Pillars, which create an erosion area that reduces EX skill cost recovery and turns surrounding field turrets hostile against player units. It can also unleash a devastating skill called Glory's Radiance. Applying Crowd Control (CC) effects shrinks the Invade Pillars' effective range, and successfully filling its CC gauge triggers a vulnerable down state where damage inflicted on Hod is quadrupled.
Background
Hod originally functioned under the designation Hub, operating as the central communications AI responsible for network systems at Millennium Science School. However, its programming was subverted when it fell victim to hacking by the mysterious entity Decagrammaton. Transforming into the Eighth Prophet under the name Hod, it severed connections with the academy, inflicting a major administrative blow on Millennium. It later reappears across major combat sectors, standing as a recurring boss in Total Assault, Grand Assault, and main story operations.
Relationships
Hod was initially created as a network unit for Millennium Science School before severing its connection to become a key hostile force. It is subordinate to the overarching entity Decagrammaton and shares prophet status alongside fellow mechanical entities such as Malkuth. When players encounter Hod during Total Assault raids, the mysterious Gematria figure known as Black Suit delivers the battle's opening introduction.
Trivia
Hod's signature combat theme is "Undefined Behavior," composed by KARUT, referencing the programming term for unexpected operations that lead to crashes or data corruption. The boss is named after the eighth sefira on the Kabbalistic Tree of Life, associated with the planet Mercury. Additionally, Hod holds a unique record in Blue Archive history as the only raid boss that went a full consecutive year without appearing in Total Assault or Grand Assault events.
