Overview
Nagusa Goryou is a character appearing in Blue Archive. She is a third-year student at Hyakkiyako Alliance Academy and serves as the Vice President of the Hyakkaryouran Conflict Resolution Council. Following the disappearance of the former President, Ayame Nanakado, she assumed the responsibility of leading the organization and inheriting the symbolic firearm Hyakuren. Beneath her cool and ethereal exterior, she harbors deep-seated insecurities and self-doubt. Despite her fragile mindset, she possesses an unyielding determination to protect her friends and fulfill her duties when key moments arise.
Appearance
Nagusa features extremely long silver hair with side braids, matching silver eyes, and pale white skin. Above her head floats a halo composed of two five-petaled ice crystals of differing sizes. Her standard attire consists of a sailor uniform with a long pleated skirt, worn underneath a Hyakkaryouran haori coat. She wears white knee-high socks and wooden clogs on her feet, and her right arm is wrapped in bandages hidden under her coat. In her swimsuit attire, she wears a white bikini paired with a light blue haori and sandals.
Personality
Although she presents herself as a composed and distant beauty, Nagusa is in reality very diffident, fragile, and prone to self-doubt. She struggles with low self-esteem and hesitation, feeling more comfortable following others than taking absolute leadership. To meet expectations and match her admired predecessor, she spent a long time maintaining an ideal facade. Despite her low confidence regarding her character, she occasionally makes candid remarks acknowledging her own good looks. She harbors a profound passion for grilled chicken skewers, frequently expressing enthusiasm whenever they are mentioned.
Abilities
Nagusa wields the standard Hyakkaryouran rifle—modeled after a Type 99 long rifle—as well as the inherited spirit gun Hyakuren. Despite battling with only one fully functional arm for a prolonged period, her high mobility and combat proficiency allow her to easily outmatch junior members, making her the top combatant in the council. In combat, she acts as a back-line striker dealing sonic-attribute damage to single targets, unleashing heavy strikes that deal heightened damage against opponents with higher remaining health.
Background
Nagusa grew up alongside Ayame Nanakado and eventually served as her Vice President in the Hyakkaryouran Conflict Resolution Council. During a past disaster linked to Twilight, Nagusa sustained a severe injury to her right arm while Ayame vanished. Overwhelmed by helplessness and grief, Nagusa withdrew from public life and attempted to step away from her duties. Through her interactions with Sensei and the remaining council members, she gradually confronts her past wounds and resolves to fulfill her role as leader.
Relationships
Her closest bond is with her childhood friend Ayame Nanakado, whom she deeply admired yet felt pressured to equal. She acts as a senior figure to junior members Kikyou Kiryu, Renge Fuwa, and Yukari Kadenokoji, caring deeply for them despite worrying about her own worthiness as a leader. She holds a significant connection to the prophet Kuzuha, who entrusted her with the spirit gun Hyakuren. Sensei serves as an encouraging mentor in whom Nagusa finds the courage to reveal her true thoughts.
Trivia
Her name is associated with the forget-me-not flower, which carries symbolisms such as true friendship and remembrance. Her signature weapon is modeled after the Japanese Type 99 long rifle, a longer variant that saw less widespread deployment compared to the short rifle version. Due to her prominent love for grilled chicken skewers throughout the story, she was selected as a featured character for a real-world promotional collaboration with a Japanese yakitori restaurant chain.
