Ayane

Overview

Okusora Ayane is a character from the mobile game Blue Archive and its animated adaptation. A first-year student at Abydos High School, she serves as the secretary and tactical operator for the Foreclosure Task Force, a student group dedicated to restoring their financially struggling school. Surrounded by eccentric upperclassmen, Ayane stands out as the principled, grounded voice of reason who handles logistical support, campus maintenance, and administrative duties for the committee.

Appearance

Ayane has short black hair in a bob cut styled with a crown braid and a hair flower, yellow eyes, pointy elf ears, and wears red-framed glasses paired with a red halo composed of two concentric circles. Her default school uniform consists of a long-sleeved blue blazer featuring an armband on her upper left arm and an ID card, worn over a yellow sweater vest, white collared shirt, aqua necktie, grey plaid pleated miniskirt, black knee-high socks, and black loafers, along with a tactical earpiece. Her appearance also includes a swimsuit ensemble with a low ponytail, hoodie, and shorts; a sleeveless operator suit; and a cool-themed idol costume.

Personality

Ayane is principled, honest, and strictly abides by rules and regulations. As the sole pragmatic voice within the Task Force, she frequently serves as the comedic brake, becoming so exasperated by her peers' hair-brained schemes—such as bank heists—that she famously flips tables and lectures them. Despite her serious persona as an exemplary student, she possesses a surprisingly lazy side on her days off, enjoying sleeping in, and exhibits an endearing clumsiness, frequently tripping on flat ground. Though prone to stage fright, her dedication to her school remains unwavering.

Abilities

Operating from the rear line as a SPECIAL class support unit, Ayane wields a SIG P229 handgun named Common Sense. In battle, she manages communications, enemy detection, and remote-controls medical supply drones to restore health to allies within a designated area. She possesses exceptional piloting capabilities, ranging from driving motor vehicles to acting as the primary helmsman for the ancient vessel Utnapishtim. Most notably, she pilots the armed helicopter Amagumo, providing aerial cover with mounted machine guns and Hellfire missiles, and can even remotely operate multiple helicopters simultaneously like drones. Additionally, she is adept at self-taught facility repairs and plumbing.

Background

A former student of Abydos Public First Junior High School alongside Kuromi Serika, Ayane enrolled at Abydos High School and joined the Foreclosure Task Force as its secretary to combat the school's overwhelming debt. She was the very first Abydos student to reach out to Sensei with a letter asking for assistance. To keep the committee solvent, she tirelessly raises funds by salvaging old items and maintaining campus facilities herself. During operations against the Kaiser Corporation's black market network, she provided logistics for the Masked Swimsuit Gang. Later, during the city-wide crisis involving the False Sanctuaries, she served as a key operator aboard the ship Utnapishtim.

Relationships

Within the Foreclosure Task Force, Ayane acts as the sensible anchor for her upperclassmen Takanashi Hoshino, Sunaookami Shiroko, and Izayoi Nonomi, frequently reining in their wild antics while deeply caring for them. She shares a close, long-standing friendship with her fellow first-year Kuromi Serika, dating back to their junior high days; the two often support each other and even formed an idol duo under Nonomi's direction. She is also friends with Ajitani Hifumi. Towards Sensei, Ayane maintains strong trust and gratitude as the first student to call upon their assistance, regularly relying on Sensei's guidance.

Trivia

Ayane's character design is widely believed to be inspired by Thoth, the Egyptian deity of wisdom. In her base version's Memorial Lobby scene, she takes off her signature red glasses, a detail that sparked humorous reactions among fans who preferred her strictly with eyewear. During the game's official 4th Anniversary broadcast, Ayane was revealed to have placed 1st in the ranking of students whose MomoTalk bond stories were read to completion by players. The name of her personal helicopter, Amagumo, is derived from the Italian word Nembo, which translates to rain cloud.
