Overview

Shimoe Koharu is a first-year student at Trinity General School in Blue Archive. Originally a member of the Justice Task Force, she was forcibly transferred to the Make-Up Work Club due to failing grades that threatened her progression. Despite portraying herself as a capable elite, she struggles academically. While outwardly displaying an aggressive intolerance toward anything remotely improper or indecent, she secretly harbors an intense habit of collecting explicit material and indulging in vivid fantasies, creating a striking contrast between her strict public stance and her private interests.

Appearance

Koharu stands 148 centimeters tall with pink medium hair bound in low twintails and matching pink eyes that shift to a cat-like shape when flustered. She possesses two pairs of small black feathered wings located on her head and lower back, which flutter with her emotions. Mysterious black lines trace horizontally and vertically across her torso from her neck down toward her abdomen. Her outfit features an oversized black cardigan slid off her left shoulder to reveal a white strap, paired with a white sailor collar, a pink neckerchief, a short maroon pleated skirt, loose white socks, black leather shoes, and a black beret. Above her head floats a reddish-pink concentric halo adorned with upper and lower wings. In her swimsuit outfit, she wears a bikini with an anklet, carrying a bag filled with face-drawn water balloons. She carries a cloth-wrapped sniper rifle.

Personality

Koharu possesses a proud, self-conscious demeanor and tends to be defensive around strangers due to her shy nature. Her intense pride frequently prevents her from admitting her academic shortcomings or asking others for assistance. Her defining quirk is a hidden fascination with explicit publications—which she insists are merely confiscated items—leading her to quickly launch into intense romantic delusions at the slightest hint of suggestive content, often followed by embarrassed outbursts. She is frequently teased by Urawa Hanako, whose shameless remarks drive Koharu to desperation. Underneath her flustered facade, however, Koharu maintains a deeply rooted sense of morality and acts with unyielding courage when others are in need.

Abilities

In combat, Koharu functions as a heavy-armored Striker healer positioned in the back line, utilizing a cloth-wrapped sniper rifle designated Justice Black alongside grenades. Her primary skill, Holy Hand Grenade, involves throwing an explosive—after accidentally pulling an adult book from her bag—that simultaneously restores health to allies and inflicts damage on enemies within a circular area. She also automatically tosses a medical kit to any ally whose health drops below half, regardless of distance. Additionally, she possesses self-buffs that increase her attack and healing output. In her swimsuit form, she shifts to a Mystic-attribute Striker attacker, dealing wide-area damage at low cost and delivering bonus damage against medium-sized targets.

Background

Koharu originally served in Trinity General School's Justice Task Force, managing confiscated items. After repeatedly failing examinations, she was placed into the Make-Up Work Club to avoid academic retention, a move also tied to political balancing between Trinity factions. Despite her initial reluctance, studying and living alongside Ajitani Hifumi, Shirasu Azusa, and Urawa Hanako allowed her to build lasting friendships and clear the remedial tests. During the Eden Treaty crisis, she risked her safety to guard the imprisoned Misono Mika from retaliatory attacks by angry students and later ensured Mika's lost personal items were safely returned, demonstrating an unwavering moral courage.

Relationships

Koharu holds great admiration for her Justice Task Force superiors, particularly Vice President Hasumi and President Tsurugi. Within the Make-Up Work Club, Urawa Hanako relentlessly teases her with suggestive banter, provoking furious reactions from Koharu despite their strong underlying bond. She also shares deep camaraderie with Ajitani Hifumi and Shirasu Azusa. Her selfless act of protecting Misono Mika during her imprisonment earned her Mika's enduring gratitude and friendship. Regarding Sensei, although Koharu constantly suspects hidden motive behind their interactions, she relies on Sensei for private study sessions and confides her secret concerns.

Trivia

Koharu's character design is inspired by the twin angels Harut and Marut from Islamic tradition in the Quran. Elements such as dual pairs of wings, body line markings, and her struggle with inner desires parallel their lore, with the "haru" in Koharu deriving from Harut. When her swimsuit version was released, the black markings across her body sparked widespread discussion among fans. During an incident where the official Twitter account faced content removals, fans humorously attributed the strict moderation to Koharu's influence, prompting the developers to publish custom art of her asserting her innocence. Despite her poor academic performance in the story, her base unit served as an invaluable Striker healer in high-level game raids.
