Overview
A student from Blue Archive who is a third-year at Millennium Science School and serves as the deputy director of the hacker group Veritas. With section leader Himari away at the Supernatural Resolution Bureau, Chihiro manages the club as the acting director. Despite being a highly skilled hacker capable of matching multiple members in capability, she is a grounded and ethics-minded white-hat hacker who keeps her unruly club mates in check while quietly managing network security and server operations.
Appearance
She has short black hair with gray inner highlights and side-swept bangs, paired with ash-green eyes and glasses. Above her head floats a dark and light blue halo featuring concentric circles and a central cross. She wears a yellow rabbit-shaped hair clip, a collared white shirt, a blue necktie, and an open jacket displaying the Veritas emblem on the shoulder and the Millennium emblem on the back. A small yellow rabbit plush hangs from her waist pouch, and she wears black socks with sneakers. During outdoor activities, she dons full camping gear, and also appears in pajamas for casual indoor settings.
Personality
Chihiro is a mature and highly principled individual who strictly advocates for proper cyber ethics, believing that freedom should never be confused with disorder. She acts as a responsible figure who frequently scolds her juniors for cyber pranks and sternly reminds others to practice safe password security. Though quiet and hard-working behind the scenes, she is a proactive person willing to execute field missions when required. Long midnight shifts have given her a habit of unwinding with canned coffee or hot chocolate from vending machines.
Abilities
Operating from the BACK position as a SPECIAL attacker, Chihiro uses her assault rifle, Backdoor. Her abilities center on cyber attacks that decrease the attack power of the strongest enemy and boost the Crowd Control (CC) power of all allies. Her EX Skill, Override, delivers damage and applies a long-duration stun effect specifically against targets with Heavy Armor, making her a specialized asset in Total Assault engagements such as the fight against Hod.
Background
As acting director, Chihiro manages the daily operational tasks and financial upkeep of Veritas by taking on security consulting contracts for outside companies and maintaining the school's network infrastructure. During major events such as the Kivotos Halo Festival and tactical operations, she provides electronic and communications support. Though generally bound by rules, she once stepped outside strict protocol to anonymously leak the illegal data-brokering activities of a dishonest client company.
Relationships
She serves under section leader Himari and is affectionately called 'Chi-chan' by close peers like Himari and Utaha. As the guardian of Veritas, she constantly monitors and disciplines her juniors—Maki, Hare, and Kotama—when they pull cyber mischief. Although Veritas was formed in opposition to Seminar's monopoly on information, she holds no personal ill will toward Seminar members, maintaining working relationships with Yuuka and Noa and even attending sleepovers with them. She frequently lectures Sensei about proper password protection and digital security.
Trivia
Her recruitment banner title references Eric S. Raymond's famous open-source software essay, 'The Cathedral and the Bazaar.' Her signature weapon, 'Backdoor,' is modeled after AR-15 series rifles, notably the HK M27 IAR. The visual design of her halo underwent a minor official art correction after its initial release.
