Overview

Aphelandra is a supporting character in the manga and anime series ONE PIECE. She serves as a guardian warrior on Amazon Lily, an isolated nation on Kuja Island inhabited entirely by women. Equipped with formidable fighting skills to protect her homeland, she frequently acts alongside her fellow warriors Marguerite and Sweet Pea. Despite her exceptionally tall stature, she possesses a gentle presence and plays a notable role when an outsider arrives on the island.

Appearance

Aphelandra is a female warrior who stands at an exceptionally tall height compared to ordinary humans. She has long, wavy hair and wears a round, striped hat fitted with a visor. Her combat attire consists of a revealing ensemble featuring a bikini top, a loincloth, and a cape, complemented by a large sword carried on her back.

Personality

Despite her imposing physical build and warrior status, Aphelandra has a remarkably soft-spoken, gentle, and innocent temperament. She displays a sweet and somewhat naive nature, showing deep compassion for anyone in distress. Exceptionally loyal to her companions, she possesses a brave heart and will willingly place herself in jeopardy to defend others.

Abilities

As a guardian warrior tasked with defending Amazon Lily, Aphelandra is highly capable in combat. Despite her remarkably large body, she executes swift and agile movements, using the large sword mounted on her back to attack effectively.

Background

While carrying out her duties on Amazon Lily, Aphelandra discovered Monkey D. Luffy alongside Marguerite and Sweet Pea when he landed on the island covered in parasitic mushrooms. Having never seen a male due to the island's secrecy, she assumed he was a woman and kindly washed and cared for him. Later, when Monkey D. Luffy faced punishment for entering the women-only territory, Aphelandra courageously stepped forward to plead for his life, causing Boa Hancock to temporarily transform her into stone.

Relationships

Aphelandra shares a close bond with her fellow Kuja warriors Marguerite and Sweet Pea, frequently accompanying them on duties. She holds high admiration for her ruler, Boa Hancock. After tending to Monkey D. Luffy upon his arrival, she demonstrated strong loyalty toward him by attempting to protect him from Boa Hancock's wrath.

Trivia

Her name is derived from Aphelandra, a genus of flowering plants commonly called the zebra plant. This aligns with the naming convention of the Kuja warriors on Amazon Lily, who are consistently named after flowers and botanical species.
