Overview
Senor Pink is a character appearing in ONE PIECE, serving as an officer in the Diamante Army—the combat division of the Donquixote Pirates led by Donquixote Doflamingo. Despite his bizarre physical appearance, defined by wearing infant attire alongside sunglasses, he possesses a deeply chivalrous disposition and an unwavering hardboiled mentality, standing out as one of the most honorable members within his crew.
Appearance
He is a middle-aged, chubby man with a pronounced lower belly. His outfit combines baby clothes—a pique bonnet, a pacifier in his mouth, and a bib—with sunglasses. When his mouth gets dirty, he wipes it using the bikinis of surrounding female admirers. Sixteen years prior, he had a slim build, styled his hair in a slicked-back look, and wore a standard suit.
Personality
Although ridiculed for his odd choice of clothing, he is at heart a deeply chivalrous and hardboiled man. He displays sincere kindness, assisting an injured elderly woman and standing completely undefended to take hits for helpless allies or stray cats. He earns total devotion from his subordinates and immense popularity among women, always scorning trickery in favor of direct, honorable combat.
Abilities
He possesses the Swim-Swim Fruit, a Paramecia-type Devil Fruit that enables him to swim freely through solid objects like floors and walls as if they were water, though he cannot swim in actual liquid. He utilizes high swimming speeds to scale vertical walls and move into enemies' blind spots. His fighting style centers on powerful physical strength and wrestling moves backed by swim momentum, including Omutsu Bomb, Neko Mimi Punch, Nyan Nyan Suplex, and the high-altitude Nyan Nyan Suplex Baby Buster. He also possesses immense durability.
Background
In his past, he hid his pirate identity by pretending to be a bank employee to marry Russian, who despised pirates, and they had a son named Gimlet. While away on pirate business, Gimlet died of a fever. Discovering his lie, a heartbroken Russian ran out into a storm and suffered severe brain damage from a mudslide. Visiting her in the hospital, he put on his late son's bonnet and witnessed her faint smile, inspiring him to wear baby clothes permanently despite public ridicule. He was eventually defeated by Franky during the conflict in Dressrosa and imprisoned in Impel Down.
Relationships
He serves as an officer under Donquixote Doflamingo in the Donquixote Pirates' Diamante Army. He maintains unwavering devotion toward his deceased wife, Russian, and their late son, Gimlet. During his battle against Franky of the Straw Hat Pirates in Dressrosa, both men refused to dodge each other's attacks, developing a deep mutual respect that led Franky to acknowledge him as a brother.
Trivia
The name of his son, Gimlet, is derived from a famous quote in Raymond Chandler's hardboiled novel The Long Goodbye. His birthday is June 12, which coincides with Lovers' Day in Japan. His anime voice actor, Kazuhiro Yamaji, has also provided the voices for other characters in the franchise, including Guild Tesoro in ONE PIECE FILM GOLD and Saint Figarland Garling.
