Inazuma

Overview

Inazuma is a character from the manga and anime series One Piece. Serving as the Deputy Commander of the Revolutionary Army's Grand Line (G) Army, they act as the calm and reliable right-hand officer to Emporio Ivankov. Originating from the South Blue, Inazuma is a key member of the Newkama who plays a pivotal supporting role in both the Impel Down escape and the Summit War.

Appearance

Inazuma possesses a distinctive two-toned visual design, with hair and clothing split symmetrically down the center—vibrant orange on the right side and white on the left. They consistently wear round, dark sunglasses and are frequently seen holding a wine glass. Through gender-altering transformations, Inazuma shifts between a tall, slender male form and a stylish female form.

Personality

In stark contrast to the extravagant and high-spirited Emporio Ivankov, Inazuma maintains a tranquil, composed, and serious demeanor. Even in chaotic situations, they remain level-headed, displaying a polite and dignified manner. Highly loyal to Ivankov, Inazuma quietly executes orders with precision and serves as an indispensable anchor for their eccentric leader.

Abilities

Inazuma has consumed the Choki Choki no Mi (Snip-Snip Fruit), a Paramecia-type Devil Fruit that turns them into a Scissor Human. They can transform their hands into massive shears capable of cutting through solid rock, stone floors, and metal as easily as paper. The manipulated materials can be moved and reshaped at will, a power Inazuma famously used to cut out a massive stone ramp for Monkey D. Luffy during the Summit War at Marineford.

Background

Originally hailing from the South Blue, Inazuma joined the Revolutionary Army and became Emporio Ivankov's chief aide. After being captured by the World Government and imprisoned in the underwater prison Impel Down, Inazuma resided in the hidden Level 5.5, known as Newkama Land. When Monkey D. Luffy infiltrated the facility, Inazuma assisted in the massive prison break and subsequently fought in the Summit War at Marineford to support the rescue efforts.

Relationships

Emporio Ivankov is Inazuma's direct commander in the Revolutionary Army's G Army and their most trusted superior. Inazuma relies on Ivankov's Horu Horu no Mi powers for gender alteration and occasionally conceals within Ivankov's massive afro during travel. Inazuma also formed a strong alliance with Monkey D. Luffy, providing crucial assistance during his desperate battles at Impel Down and Marineford.

Trivia

The name Inazuma translates to lightning in Japanese, which is echoed in the lightning-bolt motif along the center seam of their hair and clothing. In the animated adaptation, the character is voiced by two separate voice actors based on gender: Kenji Hamada in male form and Umeka Shoji in female form.
