Appearance
Penguin has short black hair, yellow eyes, and a goatee. He keeps his upper face concealed under a signature cap prominently labeled "PENGUIN" across the front. Following the two-year time skip, the red pom-pom on the top of his hat is replaced with a miniature penguin figure.
Personality
Penguin has an easygoing, upbeat, and cheerful demeanor. Though he was a troubled youth in his early years, he maintains a deep sense of loyalty and devotion to his captain, Trafalgar Law, who saved his life.
Abilities
In combat, Penguin primarily wields a long spear. He possesses exceptional swimming ability, excelling at naval combat where he dives directly into the water to attack enemy ships from beneath the surface. In his youth, he was also shown using explosives in desperate situations.
Background
Hailing from Swallow Island in the North Blue, Penguin lost his parents to a high wave and was taken in by a criminal uncle alongside his childhood friend Shachi. After escaping their uncle's abuse to live in the forest, the pair encountered Law after picking on Bepo, only to be promptly beaten. Shortly after, an explosive mishap during a wild boar attack severed Penguin's right arm, but Law miraculously reattached it using his Ope Ope no Mi powers. After residing together at the home of the inventor Volf, they officially formed the Heart Pirates three years later.
Relationships
Penguin is deeply devoted to his captain, Trafalgar Law, who saved his arm and life through surgery during their youth. He shares a lifelong bond with his childhood friend Shachi, having endured hardships together since losing their families. Though he initially bullied Bepo upon meeting him, they eventually became fellow crewmates. In their youth, he and his companions were taken care of by the inventor Volf.

His birthday falls on April 25th, a date recognized internationally as World Penguin Day. His blood type is X.
