Overview
Prince Grus is a character from the manga and anime series ONE PIECE. He serves as a Marine Rear Admiral based at the G-14 Branch and is an active operative in the secret special force SWORD. He is a Paramecia-type Devil Fruit user who holds the power of the Clay-Clay Fruit.
Appearance
Prince Grus stands 205 cm tall with a muscular build. He has wavy green hair and is distinguished by wearing a cap with an extraordinarily long, wide brim that casts a shadow over his face.
Personality
Grus is level-headed and highly perceptive, quickly discerning enemy deceptions that others overlook. Despite his reliable composure as an officer, he possesses a relatable, slightly petty side, easily becoming envious when peers receive praise from superiors he respects. Though teased for a gentle upbringing, he possesses sharp judgment and the resolve to obey difficult orders during crises.
Abilities
Having eaten the Paramecia-type Clay-Clay Fruit, Grus can create and manipulate clay at will, as well as alter terrain into clay. He creates independent clay golems to fight on his behalf, constructs spiked weapons, and deploys defensive structures like clay webs or rising earth to catch massive falling objects. He has also mastered the Sori technique of Rokushiki alongside Armament and Observation Haki.
Background
Hailing from the West Blue, Grus grew up with a gloomy habit of walking while looking down, prompting his mother to give him his signature wide-brimmed cap to prevent him from bumping into objects. Rising quickly through the Marine ranks to Rear Admiral, he joined the specialized SWORD unit and later participated in the high-stakes rescue mission at Hachinosu under Vice Admiral Monkey D. Garp.
Relationships
Grus holds deep respect for Vice Admiral Monkey D. Garp. He is looked up to by junior officers Koby, Helmeppo, and Hibari, who affectionately call him "Prince." While he harbors a comical rivalry toward Koby regarding Garp's favor, he remains a dependable figure among his fellow SWORD operatives, including Kujaku.
Trivia
His favorite food is potato chips, and his hobbies include solo camping and dancing. His birthday on October 20th is a Japanese wordplay pun on his title "Prince."
